Far be it from me to question Junji Ito.
but I really think he fumbled the ending to the horror story where the people go into the holes shaped like them.
It’s less scary to me as a reader that someone is horribly deformed and stuck in the passage, and more scary to me to just see the hole on the other side and realize there is some creepy person out there now running around who can no longer be a part of society.
