Will the failson will become a columnist. Felix a twitch streamer. Matt is doing his cushvlog thing. Virgil doing bad faith.
Don’t know what amber is doing tbh.
And, having been released from the bonds of reddit, the community that coalesced around them is, in turn, charting its own individual course.
I think Virgil is here too and you won't convince me otherwise so you can't say everyone went different directions.
He's probably on team "what will wind up the most people?"
I suspect Based_Ball.
She's been working on that book for years and having her columns rejected from increasingly less prestigious publications.
Look at where she can get published over her career. She'll never admit it though.
I dont see why. Half the podcast is reading shit articles from the same people. No different from following someone's Twitter page.
Nah, virgil's gonna become one of Brie's femboy concubines as she becomes the first General Secretary of the Communist States of America
Pretty sure snorting coke is praxis
Only thing that saved Bolivia from Jeffery Sachs' Friedmanian inspired neolib lunacy (that is, if I read 'The Shock Doctrine' right).
I mean, I don't think the podcast is going anywhere, but k.
why would they end it? It's consistently in the top 3 of patreon. Other projects came and went, but they are up there. Even if you're not feeling the pod anymore, why give that up?
Yeah, no one would give up on a stable project that earns you 6 figures a year for what is generously the hours of a part-time job.
Because they are embarrassed by it and are desperately trying to get a serious job instead of permanently being "the bros who are mean online"
Pundit, radio host on a "proper" radio show, screenwriter, basically anything other than "being funny for losers".
It's not necessarily about the money either. I guarantee you that Will and Felix are constantly embarassed by their family (why do you think Will is so snarky about people like Matt Ygelsias? He's jealous and bitter!), and Virgil clearly has always had higher ambition than just "podcast man". It's basically the same as something like Opie and Anthony or any "edgy" comedy program. It's cool to make a ton of money doing nothing and pissing people off when you're 25-30. When you're pushing 40, you start to worry about shit like your legacy and feel trapped when you're preaching to a bunch of morons instead of being respected by respectable people.
Despite the somewhat justified hate she gets, amber is the most likely of them to actually go do something tangible irl. Whether that “organising” would be worthwhile who knows, but yeh the rest of them will just be media grifters of one type of another.
explain, how is anything they do grifting? I see this thrown around a lot, but for someone to run a grift it needs to involve an actual scam
how is it an op if they have said multiple times that listening to their podcast and posting isn't a substitute for politics
Did she ever mention what her organizing experience entailed? It was always brought up on the subreddit, but never in any detail.
It's just some failed grad student organizing in the wake of occupy, if I'm remembering correctly. After that she got into some fights in DSA committees. Based on how her defenders talk about her in order to justify her shitty takes, you'd imagine she was traveling the land sowing wildcat strikes or in the leadership of a rebellious teamsters local.
I don’t know the details but I’ve heard her vaguely talk about union and dsa stuff before
Amber goes on other pods randomly. She was just on Seeking Derangements.
Who the fuck are you talking about? Go on !traphouse@hexbear.net.
