they're pronouns. that's it.
no in all seriousness though, language evolves and most pronouns are gendered. some people don't want to be called "they/them" because it doesn't resonate with them. by definition any pronoun that isn't she/her, he/him, or they/them is a neopronoun. so by rejecting someone's use of a neopronoun, we're forcing them to pick one of three boxes.
I don't have neopronouns, so I shouldn't be the one to explain (because I don't have the experiential knowledge). but I just wanted to share that we can't claim to be inclusive if we gatekeep what we don't understand. if you don't "get" neopronouns, then maybe just accept that there's something you don't get. you don't have to understand it to be accepting. it takes almost no effort to respect someone's identity, and it makes for a better community.
also if someone has the energy to add more info on neopronouns in the comments (i'm v tired from doing nothing all day), please do!
This is an honest question I'm asking in good faith: Should there be any restrictions for the purpose of preventing people using neopronouns as a joke? I saw some pushback on some of the animal related neopronouns for that reason. If it's left as a text field, you just know some chud is going to put "heli/copter"
or something like thatexactly that because they're not that creative. But is there a line to be drawn regarding "silly" neopronouns, or is it better to let anything go?people seem confused about what it means to be NB (because it means "between man and woman" or something). I did my best to explain it here:

I feel this so hard after wasting my whole day fighting with assholes who are mad about pronouns.
i'm not sure what you're trying to get at here, but either way, I don't really think this is the time or place
"you can help this page by expanding it" is like a thing wikipedia says. And we're expanding the pronouns in our usage. I dunno, I'm not getting at anything insidious. lol we are expanding our pronouns. That's it.
Literally if you had any other pronoun set I would have taken this as a "lol, hell yeah, expand that list", but now I must say "this, but unironically".
Nah I think he was being unironic it just didnt come across.
