I spent a few hours on there looking for actual leftists to follow, and cannot find shit in their starter packs or lists or w/e. it really is just stuffed with turbo libs
they've been banning palestinians from their platform for getting too "uppity"; so if there are any leftists there, they've been shadow banned like many of us here are on instances like .world or the star trek instance
“Now now, be sure you remain calm and collected about the checks notes genocide”
that's what happened to me; i was as respectful as possible while expressing my opinion and i got vitriol from trekkies and a reddit style shadow ban from the star trek instance; i'm also not the only one.
i've learned from the star trek instance that you mimic it by banning you from all of your individual communities instead of the entire instance.
the worst is people who act like staying on there is fighting some kind of good fight. like you're not gonna fix the adolf hitler website by posting, you're just justifying an addiction.
I'd forgotten how obnoxious twitter was. Self-righteous keyboard activism, totally delusional liberals, leftists screaming in to the void. Bluesky isn't even funny because the CHUDs aren't there, it's just the most loathsome liberal shitheads doing a victory lap because they found a new social media site. I didn't realize that so many people were deeply emotionally wounded by losing twitter. The whole thing just fucking sucks. Like I'm sure there are good communities but mostly what I feel looking at Bluesky is absolute certainty that the Libs are going to build themselves an iron-clad echo chamber to shut out everything happening in the world so they can have eternal brunch in peace and comfort.

You're not wrong. We were/are probably just as bad from outside.
People posting totally unprompted "we call it skeets if you don't like it you can leave" and "we block here" and similar culture enforcement stuff is just grating. They're trying to establish a distinct culture from twitter but at least what I'm seeing it already is just twitter is nearly every sense so it comes off as very forced.
Mastodon was a lot like this early on as well. I remember a lot of self-righteousness around not being on the “birdsite” and people insisting that posts be called “toots”. Eventually it calmed down, I think because other people started pointing out how obnoxious it was lol. Similarly, mastodon ended up having a lot of the same problems as twitter anyways.
The fact that you can remove the link to your tweet from any quote tweets on bluesky removes one of the fundamental aspects that make Twitter work (bullying annoying people)
people are just gonna screenshot dunk too. like, you can't stop "hey, get a loada this guy" posts
All the libs are very happy that it's "nice" and "joyful".
Idfk what hellsite they were on. Apparently there was some raft of weirdos who actually wanted to be on twitter.
Shoving your fingers in your ears to ignore the horrors of reality is what libs do best! In fact, it’s how many were seen walking into the DNC when confronted by protests for Gaza
The same problem as MAGA spaces, it is all very boring because there are no competing groups.
This is the greatest virtue of the left; we fucking hate each other.
And think Vladimir Lenin betrayed the revolution.
I'm kinda glad all the people that were too dumb to leave twitter right after the purchase have a place to go... So I don't have to read their dumb ass takes.
Anyways I'm on kolektiva.social now. Fuck the police
mastodon is alright, but the constant struggle sessions exhausted me off that platform. some dumb shit gets said -> people get kinda mad -> mass defederations or your instance shuts down from the struggle sesh. repeat adnausim
Well yeah, it's shitlib mecca. That's exactly what Twitter was before the Musk takeover, to a lesser degree.
Idk I just used Twitter to follow artists I like and bsky let's me do the same thing.
It's like a retirement home for millennial liberals
I never used Twitter but I signed up for Bluesky because fuck Twitter (Twitter hater since… 15 years ago? When my friend had a partner who would ONLY TALK ABOUT TWITTER BULLSHIT ALWAYS)
I don’t… get it. But occasionally I’ll pop in and heart some cat pictures, the extent of my usage.
