I just don't understand how israel is this important to the US. Is this the correct move for them? Or are they simply incapable of taking an L when they need to?

Israel is not just a minor side project of US imperialism. In the words of an army general and the former US secretary of state under Reagan:

Israel is the largest American aircraft carrier in the world that cannot be sunk, does not carry even one American soldier, and is located in a critical region for American national security.

Imagine a European country arresting the admiral of a US carrier fleet or helping the resistance to sink the fleet. It would be a direct attack on the empire.

That quote puts things in great perspective. Not only does Israel project power into the Middle East, but it can effectively be used to carry out operations without risking American soldiers.

Also, if Israel stops existing, there could be a lot more pressure put on America's direct holdings in the region. It would become so much easier to drive out American companies and military bases.

Having an enhanced drivers license that lets me go to Canada is as close as I can get to freedom from this hellhole. If these sanctions happen, it’ll be to spite me personally.

Could you elaborate? I just looked it up and Canadian banks have swift codes. Am I missing something?

The implication is the US will kick Canada out of the swift system. It's not gonna happen, but it would be pretty funny if it did

Ahh. Thought it was in reference to something that happened and I didn't know about. Thanks for clarifying.

Just think about how funny it would be if Graham followed through on his threat and it caused BRICS to start recruiting from former US allies

The US would panic at the thought of Canada joining BRICS more than any other country given Canada's geographic location. America needs Canada to be on their side.

Literally no country has a future healthy outlook outside of China and a few Northern European countries though lol

The countries below Germany and Japan are probably going to be so much more fucked

I feel like they’re mostly going with “We’re going to say publicly we’ll abide by it, please just don’t come here so we don’t have to test it”
