Rightwingers are such ardent believers in the powers of Posting: just imagine some Brazilian guy setting up a bot farm to post anti-Lula screeds aimed at foreigners in the review sections of random bottom-of-the-barrel AliExpress products
Lula is a nickname for Luiz (his full name is Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva), he had to add Lula bc during the 1980's governor election they didn't allow nicknames on the ballot and Lula thought that hurt his election (he ended up in 5th I believe). Lula also means Squid in Portuguese.
Yeah, Brazilian Gusanos are insane and think Lula stole a bunch of money to buy just one apartament. They also say he "wasted" money giving it to poor people (they say these people don't deserve social programs and should stave to death).
When Bolsonaro was president, he had created a bot farm to attack his enemies and promote him. They were really bad and broken. They used to call it the "Cabinet of Hate". These Gusanos sometimes forget about Lula and decide to attack Supreme Court Judge Alexadre de Moraes (the one that fucked Elon Musk, and removed Bolsonaro's political rights and livestream rights, yeah this is true), or Supreme Court Judge Flavio Dino (former member of the communist party).
The tax issue is a lie, Brazil has a very protectionist economy (like most of South America). Imported things are taxed to promote local business (without this, the economy would be flooded with American products and that would break the economy). Bolsonaro removed these taxes and the economy crashed. Hunger has decreased a lot in Brazil. And I think unemployment is one of the lowest in the Americas.
I think he is a normal leftist/socdem. He left the Communist Party of Brazil (current in coalition with Lula's Workers' Party and Green Party) at Lula's request in 2023 to join the Socialist Party of Brazil (Party of Lula's VP).
The right-wing hates him because he kept trolling them. Some people said Lula also gave him this seat the the Supreme Court for two reasons.
First, as a thanks for his loyalty and service to Brazil (And Lula got to flex his power in the Senate by electing his lawyer and a communist to the supreme court. Lula said it, probably to mock Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro had said previously "we got now a true Christian supreme court judge, in reference to his two judges, who are now isolated in the court").
Second, to keep him away from running in the 2026 Presidential Elections, since was a popular more left-wing "authoritarian" candidate (Lula is still more popular than him, I don't think theres a candidate that can win against Lula). Also, he looks like Peter Griffin, but if Peter was Brazilian and pardo (mixed ethnicity).
During questioning by the Congress, the Minister of Justice, Flavio Dino, is often attacked by members of the far-right, with questions such as his alleged participation in the invasion of the Planalto Palace on January 8, 2023 (Bolsonaro's Coup attempt), his connection to the PCdoB (Communist Party of Brazil) and his alleged links to organized crime. Dino usually responds with catchphrases, which go viral on the internet.

A few years back, shortly after the judicial coup (car wash), there was an explainer comic going around about the situation. It mentioned how "they got rid of the very popular squid" and "now have a president who is literally called mr. fear".

Yeah I've seen these too. I've never seen it the other way around though. They're either getting paid to do this, or are just extremely deranged.
Before 2023, it was recently revealed these were payed by Bolsonaro using public funds. The army in Brazil, for some reason, documents everything they do, and theres enough proof showing all of these were created under orders from Bolsonaro and payed using public funds (The guy behind this had a facebook account named "Bolsonaro the Oppressor", or something like that).
Nowadays It seems more like really crazy people. These people are easily manipulated and have no family. They think they are part of a movement or whatever, or that Lula is going to take away the old cars and broken houses they have.

I think even US news outlets were talking about this. I saw videos on Twitter that Globo TV (Brazil's biggest tv channel) was reading these documents live. I guess thse people just see this as fake news.
I posted the link to the entire document here some days ago, but it was all in Portuguese. The Federal Brazilian Police (Brazil's FBI) had translated all from Military talk and slang to normal formal Portuguese and explained it.
