    "Government shutdown" is a phrase I've heard too often like every year since 2016 at this point, just feels meaningless now. Oh wow, federal employee's paychecks will be delayed for a week or two, that's crazy

      you'd think just once it would be because the dems are trying to take some kind of stand to preserve some important progressive gain that they've enshrined in their platform but it's literally always just the republicans just arresting the machinery of the government just to show that they can, meanwhile their opponents are like "sure we'll give you whatever just don't make people more mad at us!!"
