57k people in the entire country. Doesn't seem like a great idea when Trump is talking about annexation and they're sitting on trillions in natural resources... Unless you're amenable to being annexed. Pretty sure the US is getting a new territory.

The majority (like 89%) are Inuit, it’d be nice if both the USA and Denmark could leave them alone.

      Give Greenland a nuke!

While it would certainly be nice if they were independent and stayed independent... yeah... America's whole thing is colonizing vast swathes of land.

Wait only 57,000 people live there? There's more people living in the suburbs where I grew up.

they’re sitting on trillions in natural resources…

I mean those resources are going to land in US pockets with 99% probablility anyway, so they might be hoping for at least some control and getting bribed on national scale, like Saudis, but even more since there's much less of them.

I was at an arctic conference in 2018, and there were a few talks about Greenland which seemed weirdly focused on China investing in their resources. So it is possible that Trump is aware of this and wants to wrest control from Chai-nah. Though I don't know how the situation has evolved since then.

I very much doubt if China want to contend with USA right under their nose, but it's certainly possible that US is fearing that scenario.

From Denmark's vassal to Amerikkka's vassal. Brilliant play.

You'd catch me being the very first after the Greenlanders themselves, to sing "Nuna Asiilasooq" with all the strength that my voice can muster, from my balcony, the moment the day finally comes. Infinite support to colonized peoples around the world in their struggle for national freedom!

Based on a cursory search it looks like this PM is from a nominally socialist independence party.

So I don't quite expect he's aiming to get annexed.

On the other hand, the "international community" might look away as the US forcefully annexes a colony that elected a socialist leader and got uppity about independence.
