An invasion of Venezuela and/or attacking Chile when they elect a communist as president.

yeah, overthrowing maduro would probably just end in the collapse of venezuela instead of regime change, and that would make a refugee crisis all over latin america, with only the right wing having a response to it (lock them in camps)

There are military exercises on their border from Brazil, Columbia, and the US. A leader of the opposition, Leopoldo Lopez, just 'fled' the country. Things are prepped for foreign intervention

Biden's MO for his entire political career has been throwing marginal groups under the bus to appease the right. Whether it is Black people, or drug users, or the rave scene, he just can't help but make an example out of counter-hegemonic groups. He's going to pull some shit like Mayor Wilson Goode did by bombing the MOVE house to prove he's not too radical.

And they'll still call him a Commie.

If he wins, he is going to inherit the worst US economy and highest unemployment since the great depression. On top of that, COVID now becomes his and the Democrats problem. They will no longer be able to hide behind the curtain and point the finger at Trump once he is gone. People are still going to be pissed off at the government over all of this and demanding change.

One of my greatest fear is that Biden will just be a weak pushover much like Obama and will let the GOP get whatever they want out of him. His entire political career, he has barely been a Democrat and has outright bragged how much he loves Republicans so much. He has made it clear he's going to pick some for his cabinet and that he'll appoint them in positions. Obama did something similar when he picked Republicans for positions, like Ajit Pai for the FCC (whom waited right until Obama left office and then gutted net neutrality). Biden has pretty much made it clear, he wants to work with Republicans, whom I can easily see turning around and wanting to investigate and impeach him over Hunter and they'll bully him around and make demands, eventually getting it, just like they did with Obama.

Biden really is going to be a puppet for what will truly be the Harris administration though, and that's where my absolute biggest fears come in. Harris will lay the groundwork for our future authoritarian fascist dictatorship. She will push, alongside with Biden to write some extremely authoritarian law that will further the PATRIOT Act and do something crazy to squash the protest movement. It will probably be declaring the filming of police officers to be illegal or something like writing ACAB as a hate speech and pushing to give life sentences to protesters.

Biden and Harris are already set to push mass austerity once they are in office. His cabinet isn't hiding it at all. They are going to probably defund social security and medicaid in exchange for some weak COVID relief bill that is probably just tax credits and don't help anyone whatsoever. As a result, the wealth inequality will continue and this will slowly light the fuses for our next far right fascist movement that is going to spring up like the Tea Party did back in 2009. The right wing backlash to Biden is going to be unlike anything we've seen before and will be far more fascistic than anything Trump could've ever done. 2022 is going to be a blow out for Dems and will set the stage for the GOP riding this far right movement to come back into power under a real deal fascist, whom unlike Trump is actually smart and competent.

I don't see any scenario that is good for Biden. I think he will absolutely put the pedal to the metal and accelerate us directly to fascism much faster than anyone is expecting.

They are already pushing to give life sentences to protesters under charges of criminal mischief and property destruction. It's already happening.

Several protestors in Salt Lake City were threatened with life sentences for throwing red paint on the DA building.

That's what I was referencing, thank you. They called it on criminal mischief charges.

Biden and Harris are both "tough on crime" Dems straight out of the 90s, so I can see them being A-OK with threats of life sentence charges on protesters.

With the looming mass evictions and further immiseration of a significant part of U.S. citizenry, the police will become even more hated. At this point, they are fighting a loosing war against public sentiment, and no amount of state violence can help them

I posted a thread some time back asking users about their theories of a Biden presidency and I detailed out most of this same stuff.

My apologies to you, you're not going crazy. I tend to fixate my posts on domestic issues in the US and our government, which leads me to sometimes talking in circles.

Well that's the normal canibalizing they have been doing since Reagan, they make quick profit by enslaving people, but that doesn't change the fact they tied US&Europe's economy to Asia in a way that Xi can make them their bitches. Like for fuck sake in all history you become an empire by having the industries in your soil.

      All good points here.

If truly feels like liberalism is dying and on the way out in this country. It's original job of negotiating relations between the upper class and the exploited, no longer is working the way it used to. All the Democrats have to offer anymore is empty platitudes and identity politics, and they aren't doing themselves much favors with Biden who don't even pay lip service to popular ideas.

It all comes down to fascism replacing liberalism, if they can't restore their order. The Republicans have already made it clear they are more than willing to go full fascist to save capitalism. Dems have acted confused ever since the riots. They lean to the right and support authoritarianism cause by their ideology, they don't know much else to do. It's stuff like this where liberalism leads straight to fascism.

I think Biden is going to pave the way for the future fascist dictator and Harris will lay the groundwork for an authoritarian state. It really is a perfect metaphor for the Democratic party; build a bunch of stuff for a future GOP president to use and turn it into a monstrosity.

biden was hitting trump had during the last debate for being friends with "bullies" like Kim - I'm worried that Biden and the Dems are gonna start confrontations and conflicts with NK, which can only end poorly for the people of that country

i'm seeing a slow rebirth of the pink tide in my region and all i can think about is how it was the obama-biden administration that helped destroy it, whereas trump's admin hasn't been effective enough to battle our popular movements at all

i can't root for a fascist, but i'd be lying if i said no part of me would breathe a sigh of relief if biden lost

been telling myself that it's a merit of those movements getting stronger (because they did), not a demerit of trump, but it's hard to believe it's not both

(This is assuming a civil war doesn't immediately break out and I don't join a militia and vibe helping set up a socialist republic in Chicago.) Honestly that the left in this country collapses because everyone sitting on the fence, radlibs, warren progressive types, and a whole lot of socdems just get complacent and stop participating in anything political. Just 8 years of stagnation and increasing power for the security state, like Obama but without even the half-decent parts of Obama like the ACA or the Iran Deal. I feel like we have a better infrastructure set up now but before Obama we had things like Acorn but they collapsed as well. That's my big fear.

Put it this way. When Trump tries to crush protest movements you have the liberals on your side. With Biden in office they would be cheering him on as he criminalized dissent and gave Republicans major policy victories. He'd probably shepherd in the encryption escrow bill (earn it act) which is really in practice an encryption ban among many other things that will make life harder for us.

Yeah, a new imperialist foreign policy under Biden does in fact scare me. I do believe (perhaps wrongly ) that the turmoil of the trump presidency has weakened to an extent, US imperialism. A war in Ukraine scares me the most, as the lapdogs in Kiev are just wanking off to potential military aid from the west to show off how they can beat the "Russian Military" in the east of the country. Fuck that war. Hopefully it doesn't happen, but there is no political solution that appears to be working, thus far

Maybe, but my theory is, that folks who are already engaged in activism are sufficiently invested and radicalized, that they will also turn on Biden, if he continues to give a blanque check to cops. Biden is weak. And Harris has imo. not the necessary charisma to seduce the public like Obama did, especially when more and more people are being affected by Covid accelerated precarization and exposed to gross abuses by state violence. I feel like her mask slips way more easily.
