Anyone remember the new ghostbusters? This really seems to be the dominant strategy for marketing hollywoo movies now a days.
Want a good script with a socially relevant story that reflects society back on it self? Nah, fuck that. How about lowest common denominator crap produced with a minimum of effort. Then we hype it in the media with some manufactured controversy. Sigh.
Also Matt is right about squibs, CGI blood splatter looks like crap and takes you out of the movie.
Doesn't Felix say that 2006 is the worst cultural moment in human history?
Does the script call for Ellen Page to say the gamer word so the film is accurate?
I'm taking bets on whether or not this turns out better or worse than that Law & Order: SVU gamergate episode
Current odds stand at
3:1 better
10:1 worse
That episode was ridiculous. Gamers doing an ISIS style video in front of a massive flag for a fake version of Call of Duty called "Kill or be Slaughtered", that's good TV!
I also liked that they had to have Ice T explain gaming things to the generally boomer audience constantly so he'd just be like "FPS!? That means First Person Shooter!" completely unprompted lmao.
As someone who once beat Ice-T in a heated round of Call of Duty, that hit me in a sensitive area
I'm an easy sell on Ellen Page but jeez there's almost no way this is good
Hell, sounds like it could be the next Cool Runnings, I'm in!
