I disagree Obama did anything to wrangle the anti war left into submission.

        https://phys.org/news/2011-04-obama-election-antiwar-movement.html

This paper shows most democrats who participated did so because anti war protests took an anti republican angle. Once Obama was in, the energy dissipated. Remember Obama ran as a pretty strong progressive so when he ran straight to the center I think most voters were still hopeful.

Actually I don’t think Obama did anything to suppress the left because there was no left.

If you want to be pessimistic, we’ve been at civil war for a while now. White Supremacists are the enemy and the forces in government only put up the bare minimum resistance. But they are winning. It’s only recently that a nominal leftist resistance escalated (and what did the govt. do, but kill the leftist guy in the middle of the street).

my personal take if biden wins is that there will be a flux of domestic terror attacks on political targets that will get either them killed or the target killed and in most cases, nbd.

Trump win, nothing really just salty libs. A bunch of insanely stupid people celebrate give eachother coronavirus

Not to be a lib, but a Trump win would definitely embolden some of these psychos. I don't know if either has a clear "worse" option.

Not as long as Starbucks comes up with a new drink each season.

      That is super exciting.

Yeah, people on here seem to think that every minor event is the start of a civil war. If Biden wins there'll be some violence from Trump supporters, which will also happen if Trump wins. But that is the extent of it.

People kept calling the BLM protests the 1905 of the US, every event in the US gets inflated like crazy.

I think you're right. It kinda sucks cause it ruins my living vicariously through the suffering and strife of others as they fight for justice against an evil empire, and I encourage them while never doing anything remotely dangerous or challenging...

I don't think civil war is going to happen on Tuesday or inauguration day, it's going to slowly build over the next few years and something will trigger the collapse of the house of cards.

A senile rapist will win and nothing will fundamentally change, just continue on the current path, all the current problems will slowly get worse. It couldn't be more meaningless.

I tend to agree, we'll have a short burst of unrest and then things will go back to grinding horror, at least for the next few months. There's no one to have a civil war with right now. There's barely even enough for a "Bleeding Kansas" scenario.

Social Collapse is far more likely than civil war, and I'm not even seeing that as an outside possibility until late January,

it will be incredibly stupid, and there will be a month’s worth of legal drama, and at the end of the day Biden will concede “to save the soul of our country” or something. there will be more pussy hat protests for months, chuds will shoot them up or drive cars through them, and Trump will condone it. it won’t be the tipping point for a civil war but it will make your average beer-gut sunglasses beard ballcap guy realise he can be as cruel as he wants and Trump will back him, and it will make more libs realise that celebrities tweeting ‘Vote’ won’t save them from Trump 2 and that they live in a functionally one party state.

but the next step? bleedin’ kansas baby

Trump is going to steal it, blue checks are going to posture up, nothing substantial will happen.

sincere question: civil war between who? who would the two (or more?) sides be in this conflict?

I made a long and detailed post about this including detailed class analysis of the different factions. A civil war is probably going to happen, but I don't think it's happening next week regardless of election results. It's coming though and it will probably be weirder and wilder than you are expecting.

Is it, though? I'm not that well-versed in US politics but I seriously doubt libs would take to the streets to protest the election results in any meaningful way (tweets alone don't do that much surprisingly). If it goes the other way and lefties go out and riot, maybe, but I don't think that's a war we win, sadly

If Trump wins, nothing will happen. There's a few of you libs hyperventilating about a STOLEN election, but if Trump wins, it will be largely because younger, working class, voters of color stay home because Biden is even less appealing or willing to offer any sort of material program than Hillary was 4 years ago. If they can't be motivated to vote for Biden, why on Earth would they riot over Biden losing? Unless you think women in pussyhats will start bombing federal buildings, a Trump win will just be boring. Dems will still hold on to the House, so we will transition right into Impeachment 2.0

If Biden wins, Trump people will make noise and you'll probably see a lot of right-wing militia shenanigans against state-level Democrats. Ultimately, though, Trump will leave and pivot into being the head of the Right more or less, and the Republicans will plot their next move.
