Haha I sure do love charging people boatloads of money for a human necessity.
SUPPORT NEEDED!!! 😭😭😭 Hey r/Landlord friends, I’m going through a really hard time right now and I have nobody to turn to! All of my friends and family are calling me a monster and it’s honestly bringing me so much self doubt. I need reassurance that I’m doing the right thing, since you’re all Landlords, you know how tough (and rewarding!) this job is. You can’t make it in this business without making difficult decisions sometimes, right? 👀👀 Anyways, one of my tenets got diagnosed with brain cancer last month (praying for him 🙏❤️) and said he might be late on rent. At the time I told him it was fine (oops!) but I’ve been working so hard to buy myself a much needed fourth car for commute to and from my modest second house (So blessed 🙈) and I’m worried his late payments will prevent me from being able to get it during my birthmonth 🍰 so I’m thinking of evictIng him. I know it’s the right thing to do but my families harsh words have damaged my resolve. Please give me your support.
Edit: it’s not illegal to kick him out in my state FYI. ❤️
If he really does have brain cancer (he may not) do you really want to be responsible for his things and/or any damages if he passes? It may sound callous, but you'd likely be doing both of you favours if you evict. You alleviate any potential headaches (no pun intended) for yourself, and he can spend more time with his family, which I am sure he could use the support.
You’re right! It’s not like he’s going to be alive for very long (if it’s true anyways 💅), so him staying in MY complex I work so hard to maintain when he can’t even be responsible enough to plan his finances is actually really cruel of him. He should know better than anyone that life is short and that he shouldn’t be preventing others from living life to the fullest just because HE’S having a hard time 🤷♀️!
Can't believe the gall of some people. One of my tenants came to me begging, literally weeping, asking for an extension on their rent just so they could afford the medical bill for their dumb kid's broken arm
like, how is that my problem? This isn't free housing!
You give them human necessities? Hah! I poison them with black mould, and the suckers still pay me!
what do you mean its unethical to take peoples hard earned money just to provide them the bare minimal shelter while not contributing any labor of value myself? I HAVE BILLS TO PAY TOO YOU KNOW
Har har har, my renters think that their home is a 'right' lol
I kicked them out with a loophole so now I can charge double to the next suckers.
That sounds right to me! har har har har
Any tips for giving tenants the boot?
I want to turn my unit into an Airbnb, but the family I rent to keeps giving me a sob story about "grandma dying" and I think they are making it up to play on my soft heart.
Whenever they pull the 'dying grandma' card, I just counter with the ol' 'my grandma needs to live here'
(my grandma's been dead for 20 years lmao, how do you think i have 5 houses? har har har)
Don't mind me, just blasting disco down below (rents getting doubled btw)
:musical notes: Where is the rent? I must have the rent! Dollars dimes and nickels, I need them all right noooooow! :musical notes:
Hello fellow small business men, I am looking for menacing brutes to intimidate my rent-controlled tenants. Does anyone know a good (non-union of course!) outfit for such a task? My tenants are frail and old, so I don't mind hiring women (no fatties though).
Yours truly, Archibald Covington Maximilian Rex the Third III, Jr. Esq.
After renting out my guest house for $2000/mo, how am I supposed to come up with the other $400 for my monthly mortgage payments? Really in a bind here. My parents send me $2000/mo for general spending, but I don't want to spend all that (saving up for a new BMW 🚗🚗). Should I raise their rents? Or should I switch to Air B&B?
Thx! Love you guys
Edit: I worked hard to get this place! My grandma died and left a paltry $300,000 inheritance for me. I spend half of that on the down payment for this home in an up and coming neighborhood. It's still pretty slummy here, but new people are moving in all the time and soon I'll feel safe going outside! Just figured I'd give some background for the haters saying I'm lazy 😎
