It's been a while since a reddit thread got me this heated.

Obviously I don’t know the full context, but often when a school resource officer is the one removing a kid it’s because they’ve refused to leave after the teacher and an administrator have asked them to. So that means the student has been potentially disrupting that class for tens of minutes before someone finally removed them. Not condoning the method but the students probably knew this was coming.

my god, TENS of minutes? TENS? POTENTIALLY DISRUPTING for TENS OF WHOLE MINUTES?

There was no violence there. There was controlled use of force. She was never stuck or choked. Her lack of cooperation with an authorized authority is what caused the event to be volatile. I am confident of two things. First this is not the beginning of this incident. Second this person was given a choice. She made at least two bad choices to end up in this situation. Rebels and protesters don't think about all the costs involved in the final purchase. Usually they don't end up paying it either.

why are you confident of that lmao

My kid would have NEVER. But I went to school with students who acted out, and I didn’t bat an eye. Because if I acted out - the security at school would be a walk in the park compared to the ass whoopin I would’ve received at HOME.

all those beatings have sure turned you into a wonderful parent. "my kid would NEVER" = the kid is doing that thing every single day

Okay galaxy brain, how would you handle removing the child from the classroom if they refused to cooperate?

SO MANY PEOPLE being like "what's the alternative? what were they supposed to do??", the redditor mind can really only conceive of things happening that end in clips. The idea of having a conversation is beyond the imagination, violence is the only conceivable outcome.

What a surprise she’s black /s 🤦‍♂️

and now you see laid bare the thought that every other poster thought before making their post

There's definitely a thing to be said for how reddit-logo has so many people complaining about AuThOrItArIaN cHiNa, but at the same time has so many subs like PublicFreakout or JusticeServed or whatever where they're cheering for cops or rentacops beating up people, usually for some minor infraction (or even worse, beating up protesters), and then justify it with ”well, they shouldn't have done the thing if they didn't want to be beaten”.

    In evil North Korea, etc.

Don't worry, if you post a video of someone getting punched for screaming a racial slur at someone over and over they'll suddenly become enlightened and state how violence isn't the answer. It's predictable as shit.

      Publicfreakout can be a wildcard.

There was a video on there today of a woman in china threatening people with a cleaver in each hand, and Chinese police took her down with plastic bins and a pole that grabbed her ankle. Disarmed her, and arrested her.

The entire comment section was making jokes about how in fascist authoritarian countries they'd just shoot you. One person tried to be like "buh buh buh organ harvesting!" and was downvoted negative.

That sub is like the ebb and flow of tides, one day it will be almost entirely anti-cop and anti-Israel, the next it feels like the fucking hunger games looking for a slaughter.

My experience with PublicFreakout has been mostly pretty positive in that they tend to take an anti-cop stance, especially during the last BLM wave. Their most upvoted posts of all time are all negative about police violence. So much so that a reactionary offshot called "ActualPublicFreakouts" was made.

      JusticeServed fucking sucks though.

I remember when I was in highschool some kid was acting up and the police got called and they literally held her down and pepper sprayed her straight up the nose point blank. When she got back I talked to her and she had permanent damage to her sense of smell and her lungs

Also to be honest, my mom is this nice but pitiful mentally ill lady who couldnt hold down a real job so she did substitute teaching. These kids treated my mom like dog shit, throw stuff at her and call her a bitch and shit. Its a little personal.

The whole “stupid prizes” aphorism reduces to a Judeo-Christian view of morality. Rules are absolute and shall not be questioned. They are Commandments passed down from God. We don’t know all of God’s reasoning for the Rules, but if you break the Rules you have no excuse (after all the Rules were clear) and any punishment is Fair according to divine judgment.

Liberals will defend even unjust laws because they believe that deeply in the law and the legal-political institutions in place to change it as needed. Hence another favorite aphorism: The wheels of justice move slowly, but they grind extremely fine. The inability for our institutions to correctly handle situations as they arise is accepted as a feature and not a design flaw.

I went to a really shitty public school where the kids would fight with the teachers and the security, these kids were failed a long time ago, like generations ago.

It sucks having to be scared of people trying to fight you for no good reason or have class disrupted by some person who is mad at the world and doesnt give a shit who they hurt. I am definitely dumber than the people who I went to college with because of that environment. But I hate more redditors/white people who dont get whats going on. That goes for both libs and chuds.

Its not that theyre bad people, its not their parents are bad people, its not their race, were talking about generations of various trauma and lack of social cohesion that make people act like that.

literally how is every student in that class not going to see that and go "oh, okay, this is prison. we're inmates. all the adults here hate us and there's no point in trying to gain their approval."

There could be many reasons why you dont think that:

        1. The kid is a piece of shit and has been asking for an assbeating for a long time. It being a cop doing it doesnt make a difference and may make it the ideal situation because that person may have power over you for various reasons. The people you go to school with in this environment are also what make the experience so miserable. It's funny that you ask that because a low-income public school shares a lot of culture that a prison would have.

        2. You dont get involved because you don't want to get in trouble

        3. Don't care.

        4. You've developed reactionary politics from being exposed to this kind of stuff daily but not really understanding the underlying cause.

        5. Your sympathy lies with the teacher who is just trying to do their job. FROM MY EXPERIENCE, rarely do the teachers work against you, they are excited when you do well. They do care and are passionate, the ones looking for an easy check leave quickly or move on to a better school district after hearing "fuck you bitch" for the nth time.

Also there's a power dynamic and balance these teachers have to maintain in this environment that lies between getting walked all over and being respected. Respect generally is given to teachers, the students dont really care if they have the teachers.

The adults dont hate you but what can you do about a child who is threatening you with violence? Or is not willing to listen? It really is the child who is the instigator in a lot of these situations but that doesn't mean theyre the ones to entirely take blame because American society being a garbage failure.

In my school for example, gangbangers would get pretty close with the security guards ironically as they were neutral adults who didnt expect or demand anything from them.

even if you accept the premises of the system, that people who get punished deserve it, that's not the reasoning of a student, that's the reasoning of a prisoner. education isn't possible when the student's only goal is compliance.

          • Mokey [none/use name]
            ·

The other students also make it a prison. There's layers to this, my friends little brother got beat up by one kid for no reason and they couldnt retaliate because the kid was in a gang.

Like I don't think it's good that people deprived of resources and a functioning society get this treatment when they act as outputs of someone who is deprived like that. On top of that you have no idea what's going on or not going on at that persons home. But sometimes its personal, you want to see the dipshit making your day to day real non-internet life miserable get theirs.

If you wanna argue with me on this just disengage i dont want to talk anyone who hasnt been through a shithole public school on this topic

I didn't know we were arguing. It sounds like you're agreeing with me. My point is that cops beating the shit out of kids is not conducive to good schools, which I thought was uncontroversial.

I've also been a in a school full of kids failed by society who fought frequently, but never ever did staff initiate violent confrontation with the children (though I don't think such an action would ever be legally defensible in my country). My fear is that this comment teeters worryingly close to 'those kids are unsaveable and this is in some slight degree a necessity', which I hope isn't the intention.

Jesus Christ the video makes it entirely worse. She's sitting in a desk/chair combination and so is stuck in place while the cop basically thrashes her around the room, nearly smashing her head/neck off another desk, and violently wrenching her from the desk.
