Kitchen grunt angle: fuck brunch so much. Bullshit prep that gets in the way of dinner prep(real food)with batter and eggs and shit bullshit cleanup cause of said batter and eggs and it can easily leak into lunch and dinner service. So you generally don't have time to help set up the closing staff, which is shitty cause they have to catch up while doing dinner. Fuck brunch.

The Anthony Bourdain position on brunch should be the Lefts official standpoint

I don't know what that is. I've ignored Anthony Bourdain since I didn't wanna think about my job on my off time. Since Covid has had me jobless for a while, I might check him out

Edit: just saw the quote on the other post. That about sums it up.

Brunch is nothing but a "horrible, cynical way of unloading leftovers and charging three times as much as you ordinarily charge for breakfast," he said. "It's the least popular shift for cooks. I personally hate it. I've all sorts of deep, highly traumatic memories of my years cooking brunch. ... Hideous."

I thought the brunch thing was a leftist meme based on some lib's tweet. Was it actually a big thing on donut twitter??

Yeah but are libs all booking brunch as like a symbolic thing now? I thought it was just a one-off thing some guy said that was indicative of a larger attitude and the left ran with it.

          As a former pastry chef.

Fuck brunch people. Always the most entitled of cunts.

Had an older rich lady come in every sunday. She would only eat croissants that were piping hot from the oven -- we microwaved hers, she could not tell the difference.

I thought this was just a leftist joke but turns out it's real? What's next the white house staff will take a month cleaning cheeto dust off of surfaces in the white house before Biden goes in?

Just drove by a bunch of brunch spots that are near my friend's house, and there are lines out the door at a lot of them.

Some of the restaurants in my town are beginning to turn there parking lots into like patios so they can sit people outside. I don't know how to feel about this. For sure we will keep getting waves of covid for who knows how long.

I went for a jog early this afternoon and brunch places were packed here like they haven't been since pre covid.

Did the left accidentally meme this into reality?

What ive gathered from these wealthy libs posting is that its a some kind of social thing its completely an upper class thing but i wish everyone could have time to spend with their friends or coworkers

It gets overplayed as something exclusive to bougie libs, because it's culturally significant for them, but it's not like nobody else eats late breakfast and drinks.

The thing with all brunch places around me in the bay area is

            1. It's more expensive for no foreseeable reason other than how it's marketed or whatever

            2. Popular brunch places are always packed, like lines and shit which I suppose adds to the "exclusivity" to the allure.

            3. Breakfast should be served till at least 12 IMO, but they get away calling it something different because we, as a species, are really fucking stupid.

            4. As a former cook and server, brunch crowds are the actual worst, most entitled people that would come in. The actual "Karens" or whatever of the world fucking love brunch. I hate it

Oh well yeah that's the Bay Area lol. I'm in Cleveland which is a low income city so brunch is just whenever you go out to eat in the morning.

Except it's definitely late enough for lunch, most people do brunch at like 1pm.

The only reason I will do brunch is if the meals are on some sort of special. But that is less and less common. I miss going to the upscale Mexican place down the street for half price entrees at 11am. Now it's like double the price for smaller portions of last night's leftovers with eggs.

Nah, I'll stick with Indian buffet lunch.

(Not that I've gone out to eat since last February anyway...)

Indian is my favorite of the buffets. I absolutely must have a little bit of everything. I haven't gone in close to a year.

brunch is weekend late breakfast that you're socially allowed to drink at. Brunch specials would usually be things like bottomless mimosas or shit like that.

The Pyramid of Capitalist System, except with mimosas.
