I think was all cynical and fake. They wanted to make it seem like Warren was radical and dangerous so the left would support her more

I think the hate was sincere. Capital can't stand even the pretense of opposition.

I doubt she'll survive reelection, once Bloomberg is done with her.

I think nobody likes Liz Warren lol

The thing about trying to ratfuck someone who by all accounts considered you an actual friend is that it rarely leads someone to look at you and think "yes, this is who I want to bring into my inner circle."

Totally fine with this. Bernie would have never been able to accomplish anything meaningful in whatever position they would have offered and his absence from this administration just further highlights to anyone on the fence what they hopefully should have already known: the Biden administration isn't going to fucking listen to you.

As for Warren: she can eat shit for all I care.

if the other Dem Senators could agree on a generous stimulus bill and pose the runoff as a referendum on that, the message could resonate in a way they never managed during the general. It’ll be tight, but possible.

They won't. The Dems had a hundred winning strategies for the general and they played the "not Trump" strat again which barely won.

I keep reading this and the opposite of this headlines constantly.

I just hope bernie stays as senator, idk how much he could actually accomplish in a republican administration plus a republican majority senate (cause I assume Georgia will also have ratfuckinv, plus the dem candidate is just a extreme moderate on everything besides abortion.)

Georgia doesn't need to be ratfucked. They can lose all on their own.

My thought is he wants it because this is probably his last term as Senator, so it's a better way for him to retire.

A theory someone had in another thread about this was that Bernie campaigned for a cabinet position knowing he’d never get it, in hopes that people would see that and realize how unwilling Biden is to be “pushed to the left.” I don’t really buy it but if that was his plan it’s seems to be working as intended

gasp How could they, after all he's done? I in no way saw this coming at all.

    Oh wait. I mean: :pigpoop:

Honestly though fuck Warren. Imagine sabotaging someone who would have actually made you treasury secretary and maybe even VP to get jack fucking shit. I hope trying to slander him in the media, catch him on a hot mic, and finishing 3rd in your state was worth what you got. Which is nothing except a pat on the head from people that would probably be fine seeing you get primaried. Because I'm sure a centrist candidate could cynically wield the point that you backstabbed progressives, to peel votes away and sink turnout.

Has everyone forgotten that Bernie commissioned legal research to see if Warren could be VP and treasurer at the same time. I hope Warren hasn't lmao

Truthfully, Warren being frozen out as treasury secretary is definitely worse than Bernie being frozen out as labor secretary since treasury secretary is an actually powerful position. Labor secretary doesn't really do much, so long as it isn't a union buster it's fine. I struggle to see how Bernie as labor secretary is any different than Bernie as a senator but a Tom Perez equivalent in the role.

The role of labor secretary is to enforce labor law, manage some pensions, and do a shit ton of data collection, not to say, run programs that aim to increase unionization rates.

It could be the later, but there's nothing really gained by being labor secretary in that case, Bernie was already engaged in those struggles as a Senator. Bernie as labor secretary could dedicate resources to go more aggressively after violations done by specific companies, but even then Biden could just shut that down.

Not defending Biden and his anti-progressive agenda, but doesn’t this make sense given that VT and MA have Republican governors?

VT's governor commited to nominating an independent who caucuses with Dems, if Bernie were to go. I think the VT legislature was also planning to make a law to formalize that.

Which won't make a difference here, of course. We all know that's not the real reason Biden snubbed him
