Is it just me or does it feel like complaining about things like pumpkin spice lattes on spaces like reddit is really just low-key sexism?

Yeah it's tricky to separate individual items like pumpkin spice lattes or whatever, but "loudly hating things that are stereotypically enjoyed by women" pretty much is just a publicly-acceptable excuse to hate women by proxy. Another example is "deriding makeup and skincare as a waste of time and money". Like it's totally fine if it's not your thing (I find flavored lattes too sweet and can't stand having weird textures on my face) actively hating on it always feels rooted in sexism. You don't find the same vitriol for IPA drinkers or people who are really into shaving anywhere on the internet.

Probably. It also has to do with the only culture people create is purchasing habits.

pumpkin spice lattes are an unhealthy addictive drug fostered upon us by our capitalist overlords as a seasonal marketing technique, but otherwise yes

Honestly never thought about that but this is so true, and it’s not just pumpkin spice lattes. Anything from jokes about women going to the bathroom together, to makeup, to taking too long to get ready, to comparing outfits, the list goes on
