Or maybe we could go with Trump's idea of herd immunity, that works as well.

A lockdown that doesn't shut down restaurants and damn near every store is not a lockdown. If they do a "lockdown" but leave McD and Office Max open because they're essential, it's not gonna do any good. If they leave TIGChiliBees open because they're doing takeout only, it's not a lockdown. There is no way in hell there is enough political will to do the kind of shutdown we would actually need. I'm watching coworkers and schoolkids drop like flies. Our local HS has at least a case a day, with the requisite contact tracing kicking out who knows how many more kids. We have two coworkers at my location and god only knows how many at another location that are quarantined right now. But fuck, who cares. Get speed and work your ass off anyway. I ended up getting those dirty OT dollars today opening at a different store because the opener is on quarantine. Another store in the heart of the city where no one ever wears masks cuz they're assholes got in trouble for keeping their lobby shut or for telling people they had to wear masks.

*pulls my hair out and screams* ugh....sorry for the rant. Scientists don't fucking matter when money is on the line. Besides the long term effects covid is having on people who get it, I want to see the study when this is all over about how fucked up all the "essential workers" who had to work hella OT surrounded by assholes who act like we aren't human with no goddamn break while listening to some CEO asshole on a Zoom call telling us we're in it together. I want to see the study on the collective nervous breakdown the service industry is gonna have if this shit don't quit soon.

:elmofire: :this-is-fine: :agony-turbo: :xi-plz: put this place out of my misery.

That company is on another level

I would read a book on them, unironically. It's fascinatingly bad. That's the tip of the iceberg.

lmao I cant believe I forgot about that

I remember a little thing - a couple years ago my card expired so I called them to change my order to the new card.

The phone number you are actually supposed to call for customer support... is like, talking mainly about shareholders. It's the same... line. The intro at the start doesn't talk about the stores, or games, or whatever, it talks about investors. As I'm trying to fix my game order. Weirdest shit ever.

Also, every time you go in there, they have those videos playing loudly talking about games. They never, ever, ever talk about how the new game plays, or what it's similar to, or that sort of thing. They just talk about the PLOT. It could be a Mario game. Instead of saying there's a new interesting hat mechanic that lets you play as a T-rex, they tell you that Bowser stole the Princess again, except this time they ended up in the Shadow Realm ruled by Dark Koopa or whatever fucking background decoration happens to be in the game. Now Mario must venture through the... It's fucking mind numbing.

They had such a great opportunity and they persistently ground it down further and further

even if the vaccine arrives soon and gets distributed quickly and efficiently (and it won't) there's no way more than 40% of the population gets vaccinated within the first year. cmon man

I think I posted this same article yesterday or something similar.

He don't support lockdowns at all. Instead they are going to push for "lockdowns on hot spots" which is too late after it has spread all over the country.

This is only going to escalate 10X as bad and go completely out of control under Biden. They are going to be rushing to push austerity measures and some bipartisanship bill with the GOP to enact tough laws to protesters while the virus continues to run rampant.

Well, at least the rent moratorium lasts until... Oh, wait. The end of 2020.

and still no stimulus or anything to help pay rent or other bills. I'm sure when we get that relief bill next year it's just going to be tax credits and at the cost of this senile old fucker getting to finally fulfill his life dream of defunding social security.

I feel like I’m going insane. Everyone is finding some cope and is at some level of covid denial around me. From chuds to liberals who think a mask mandate will fix it all.

i mean theoretically if a mask mandate were somehow 100% enforced and literally everyone wore a mask at all times it would work well. but uhh that probably won't happen
