"Pays 90k with commission, so we expect a lot from this position."

God she's full of it. Full of herself and full of shit. That's so condescending and haughty. And to top it all off, 90k isn't necessarily all that much for a software sales job. It's obviously a lot more than many people make, but it's still just that attitude of "I give you money, therefore you should dance for my entertainment."

Nah, the BF should have broken up with this person immediately. That kind of soullessness is a serious red flag.

I'm sorry. I expect a lot from this position and your performance as a human being has just not been up to snuff. I realize you could improve, but that might take months, and I just can't wait that long. So I'm breaking up with you.

      That top comment tho

YTA for firing him without first going through the steps of describing his issues to him

It's not about "having heart", it's about making a dumb business decision for both you and him. So much smarter to work with this guy to get him back on track after a temporary setback than to push the eject button and have to find and start over with a new person. Dumb.

In which OP is not an asshole for being absolutely cruel, but rather for making a business whoopsie. R*dditors get the fucking wall in minecraft.

      Spicy!

You guys: "How come every post is NTA? Why don't more assholes post here?"

Also you guys: "OP, FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE, YOU DESERVE TO DIE! BITCH ASS CUNT!"

hmmmmmmm I wonder why people might be nervous to post here? it is mystery!

Read the goddamn rules. I had to ban HUNDREDS of you for violating rules 1 and 5 in this thread.

Message the mods with any questions or concerns that are not answered in our FAQ or our full rulebook. PM me about this and I will ban you.

This story is plausible enough and heard similar ones. Let's say it's true. (I'm suspicious because it claims there are jobs where a 22yo can earn 90k) It's not necessarily true that all managers are ruthless pricks. But the economic system we have necessitates ruthlessness.

      “With commission”

That means that if you’re busily stabbing everyone around you in the back for leads and closing viciously, then you can make $90k.

      Most people won’t.

I know a few people who made that coming out of college. Lockheed, IBM, various oil adjacent companies in Texas. If you get an engineering or compsci degree you can make bank here

"Much cheaper to "repair" the high-quality "unit" than to replace with something else with a random quality in return. Might take years, and several replacements, to find someone who could produce his numbers."
