It's obviously a lot more than many people make, but it's still just that attitude of "I give you money, therefore you should dance for my entertainment."

It's not about "having heart", it's about making a dumb business decision for both you and him. So much smarter to work with this guy to get him back on track after a temporary setback than to push the eject button and have to find and start over with a new person. Dumb.

idk that's totally reasonable in that situation. They said how to contact the modteam properly, and anyone PMing a mod just to harass them about this shit should obviously be banned.
This story is plausible enough and heard similar ones. Let's say it's true. (I'm suspicious because it claims there are jobs where a 22yo can earn 90k) It's not necessarily true that all managers are ruthless pricks. But the economic system we have necessitates ruthlessness.
90k isn't too rare for Software Engineers working in one of them larger companies
Sales at a software company. Assuming it's enterprise software those commissions could be pretty sizeable.
I know a few people who made that coming out of college. Lockheed, IBM, various oil adjacent companies in Texas. If you get an engineering or compsci degree you can make bank here
