I decided I’m going to run for a city council position as a socialist. My local DSA has been very successful getting people elected on all levels of government and I intend to be very clearly not just a demsoc to

    1. improve material conditions for my constituents

    And

    1. inspire the fucking left like they just did for me.

    Let’s fucking go

                it can be*

but it can also be a useful tool to facilitate good faith conversation among a group with diverse thought, aka a left unity website

Edit since I posted about this recently on a discussion post someone made on the subject:

Civility is really, like many things, all down to good and bad faith. Presenting civility while delivering bad faith arguments is not civility, but manipulation.

Civility is a tool used effectively only in a space with common ideals and a shared identity, because following the ‘rules’ of civility are a social gesture towards your own good faith, by following the strictures, informal or no, of a community

When it is used in unsafe, unwelcoming, or hostile spaces, civility is at best a shield against bad faith criticism, but more often a ball and chain used to weigh down minority groups, to be able to brush them aside for being uncivil for merely bringing up the way in which they’re treated, as seen in the treatment of trans individuals on many places on the internet, as well as neurodiverse people

It is a tool that must be used and appraised carefuly, because it’s not just whether or not someone is acting civilly, but if they’re doing so in good faith

Resigning in disgrace is such a low-T move. Make those fuckers fire you. When they come in with a gun and one bullet shoot the guard.

      CONTEST EVERY RACE.

When the governor's shitter is broken and there's a communist in control of the waste-water treatment plant and all the pipes, that's when things happen.

Being able to open a fresh pack of cigs and light one up without stopping your bike is a life skill IMO.

I bought a pack of Kamel Reds in maybe february or march and I have 2-3 left. Each time I smoke one, the period between them is greater. With snus and vapes, I don't miss smoking at all.

I do miss the act of rolling up a smoke and lighting it with a zippo, but its not worth smelling like a camp fire.

Practice sprints too, you've seen those videos from protests where cops give up after chasing someone for 100 meters (if that)

Specifically, practice sprints that are longer than whatever you think cops are doing. Always add an extra 10 meters to whatever you sprint.

Someone on r*eddit says "israel goes to great lengths to not kill Palestinian civilian"

--> I say that's disgusting and false and they shoot unarmed children all the time

--> "All the time? Prove it"

---> spam amnesty reports on it

--> "so you´re citing biased sources? come on, I could do that as well."

--> "Biased against war criminals you mean? Keep reading your pro ethnostate zionist news rags you little piggy but don't try to spout your disgusting propaganda and then cry when someone confronts you with reality."

This country is just incredible at sucking out every fucking dollar from vulnerable people. I posted here yesterday about my friend's father passing away from Covid, so I flew down to help her and manage some stuff for her while she grieves. My god everything is designed to rob you with all the vultures standing over your dead fucking body. The hospital, insurance stuff, funeral expenses, home owners association, even other family members. Everyone is just waiting in line to harass a grieving person and steal their money

When everyone that has ever picked up a controller knows the launch line of consoles always has numerous technical issues. I don't get fomo at all. I am fomoless. It comes with being a leftist I guess. There isn't a single thing I fear missing out on other than watching the guillotines drop on the Fortune 500 list.

Lol, for me it's the opposite. I have a few hundred hours in civ just playing with friends over the years. I watch a bunch of kerbal space program videos and I tried to pick it up for like the third time yesterday and I could barely get a plane off the ground without it exploding.

Yeah, spaceplanes are for people who can eyeball a moon landing from start to finish.

Start with rockets and learn to orbit first.

No yeah, I was just talking about regular planes. Rockets are not too bad, but I keep trying to build a plane and losing interest an hour or two in and a dozen explosions later.

Yeah. I can do jool aerobraking to leythe no issue, but I've never got a spaceplane to orbit consistently. Stalls and spins are really easy.

I got a laptop that cost about twice what a PS5 does, then paid 14$ for the Uplay subscription, and I haven't decided if I want to play the viking game or not because they wussed out and didn't let me throat-stab a thinly veiled expy of Bill Gates in AC:III.

They wussed out on the monk murder as well, though it is a lot of fun to run around yelling about killing the saxon god and burning his house down.

Eivor is not a good person and its great to play a game where the Templars are arguably in the right.

As of right now, 45,000 votes (margins of AZ, GA, WI) separate us from a second Trump term. 2016 was decided by 76,000 votes in WI, MI, and PA

but Biden’s win was a total landslide!!

Knowledge isn't power. I don't know why they tell kids that. I command vast and dangerous knowledge and all it's done is made me progressively crazier and less able to function. Knowledge is just knowledge. Power is when you can tell men to kill other people and they do it.

Had a discussion about 'the war on Christmas' and this reply seemed to do the trick of shutting them the fuck up.

How fragile is your culture and traditions when their fate hangs on if Walmart wants to sell you themed products? So either christmas is all just mindless consumerism to you, or it's not really that important at all and you can just celebrate in any way you like without the need of special starbucks coffee cups. So which is it?
