The tweet missed a couple folks.

A person with a rose emoji got mad at me for saying the rword on twitter so clearly they have not read theory and are not really leftists.
soon as it even remotely threatens capital or the barest concessions to the working class.
why would they wait for it to just get more powerful? its a matter of not having a way to tank this movement yet, but theyll figure something out like in the past. maybe biden will have to prove to republicans hes not on the side of socialists and do something idk
yep there will be no more compromise with labor that has been made abundantly clear.
The democatic party has 45 million members, still quite a way to go.
It does look like exponential growth though which is really promising.
dsa had like 10k members in 2016. proportional to population cpusa hit its peak around 200k in the 40s and the socialist party around 400k in the 10s
To reach that same percentage the DSA would need about half a million members.
According to the numbers you gave me the CPUSA peaked at membership being 0.15% of the USA 1940s population. For DSA to have the same percentage of USA 2020 population it would need ~500K members
oh no those numbers are already proportional to what cpusa had back then, which was like under 80k
I've been messing around with People's Party (yeah yeah lib I know) and one person I talked to said they had 100k members already.
I don't know what to do with this information. Either it's impressive they have that many already or it's sad how few DSA has.
Depends on what they consider a member. Do they count people who pay dues or people who signed up for emails or some shit
for DSA it's definitely paying dues. When I sent in my payment I got a letter in the mail with my super special DSA member card
Fair point. Yeah I have no idea. I haven't had to pay dues, I don't think there are dues so I assume it's the latter.
Let's have a big struggle session over the issue of membership and hold a vote on it, splitting the party into two and giving each faction a nickname based on their share of the vote
haha jkjk
you just gotta sign up with an email for MPV (which btw doesnt actually do much lol)
Email said there's elected representatives in 32 states. Wish they'd put together a nice interactive map on their site with everyone elected. Curious to see, i didn't even know there were that many elected dsa candidates.
That’s more than the UK Labour Party fwiw (much smaller country I know, but still).
wikipedia says about 580,000, but idk how up to date that is.
