The tragic thing which you do not understand — which you cannot understand — is that you’ve already lost. You cannot know exactly what — that’s the nature of chaos — but know this. You will lose more than you can bear.

We lost our children, playing at church. We lost our friends, sitting down to brunch. Muslims lost their dignity and rights. Your Republicans have set forces into play they cannot possibly understand and certainly cannot control. And they don’t even want to. To them, chaos is a ladder.

    . . .

We lost our friends, sitting down to brunch.

    😔

Sincerely though, the person writing this is a beyond parody Sinhalese shitlib, they're the Sri Lankan equivalent of MLK's white moderate on steroids.

They're super quick to (correctly) point out how fucked up the US electoral system is while failing to acknowledge that the Sri Lankan government and system they're so precious about being destabilised was the result of genocidal fash winning a civil war that started in the 70s and only ended TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO and has been running massive bipartisan pinochet style death torture and rape squads ever since, and still are today to the extent that even most of the imperial core countries acknowledge refugees from that civil war are still in danger of their lives if they were to return.

They've got some decent takes on the yankee system here but seriously the system they're whining about being "couped" was bipartisan genocidal fash, the coup was fash infighting and the author equating the interruption of their biweekly brunch with friends with public escalation of the reign of terror Sri Lankan Tamil have endured for the last half a century is beyond infuriating and I have far more sympathy for the people who planted the bombs this man is so afraid of than I do the author of this garbage.

Thank you for reading my vent post.

If only the us was having a coup. After all the countries they've fucked up it would be great to see. Yeah it's a very psychotic take but the us can't be reformed. The empire is sick to it's core. No surprise for a country with the cancer of slavery at it's heart. So yeah if there is a coup fuck you I don't care. Eventually the blowback for 50 years of neoliberal hell will arrive. It's only karmic justice at this point

Nah. Coups fail and then nothing happens. Look at Turkey. If every coup was a cut as they say coups would be impossible to stop and all of history would be considered a coup.

This is anecdotal. It’s got interesting points that I certainly agree with, but that has nothing to do with a coup, just early stages of a failed state. If trump didn’t do these things the wounds are already there festering, it’s just got tangible ammunition now to accelerate. We are going to see Tea Party 2.0 (qanon) in the next cycle, and probably a new Occupy too. The “coup” is just a little flavor packet.

Meh, if you fall for this coup narrative consider yourself a certified lib.

I tend agree with Matt, the libs want a distracton to avoid talking about Biden's horrible cabinet, they've been screaming about trump being a fascist for so long now, but if trump was really a fascist he would've used COVID to consolidate power like Viktor Orbán in hungary, instead trump gave the power to the states.

This is a classic distraction play, DNC want's to avoid people looking into the Biden administration while the fill it with swamp creatures, and the MSM needs the trump train to keep running since it brings in ratings. If the states don't certify their elections (i believe the deadline is december 6?) then maybe, but I don't see Trump having enough backing from the "deep state" or the oligarchs..

but if you don’t see this as a golden opportunity for the real fascists in america, i don’t know what to tell you.

Our 'real fascists' are in the GOP and they're a lot smarter than Trump. If you haven't paid attention to how they've responded to him since election night, the GOP are basically throwing him out to dry right now. They didn't back him on his attempts to stop vote counting and then the recounting thing. Rupert Murdoch of FOX News sent out a memo telling their anchors not to feed into Trump's voter fraud claims.

They already control the courts and they won nearly every state election where re-districting was on the table. This puts them in great position for more gerrymandering and since they already control the courts and Trump got them 3 SCOTUS justices, it's all good for them. Trump served his purpose. They were done with him after the third SCOTUS judge was approved.

Trump is the laughing stock of the capitalist class but he helped the GOP and they benefited from him, but now he's no longer of use, so they throw him out to dry.

This is my general thinking - Republicans spent decades working toward control of the courts. If Biden is Biden then the midterms are going to be a bloodbath. Kamala is just awful in every way except she's kind of hot. Doesn't make sense to de-stabilize everything when Republicans are in control.

The one thing Trump has is the base of the party - they can scream and threaten legislators that don't go along with Trump, but I don't see it working. All these psychopath politicians want what Trump has, and overturning election results would just make Trump the true God Emperor of the party.

Yep, they spent decades working towards this. They managed to get more judges through in 4 years of Trump than Obama did in his full 8 years. The GOP are playing the long game, as they have been doing since the 1980s. Trump's real legacy with the GOP will be the fact he managed to get them a total of 3 SCOTUS justices and this radically changing of the courts. Biden isn't even interested in reversing this, if anything, he has said he'll approve conservative judges too just for bipartisanship. Republicans aren't stupid, they know they can bully this senile old asshole and get what they want out of him, they did it to Obama all through his presidency.

Midterms absolutely is going to be a bloodbath. Biden wants to push mass austerity and the results are going to be them losing the house, and they aren't retaking the senate. They squandered that this past year.

The one thing Trump has is the base of the party - they can scream and threaten legislators that don’t go along with Trump, but I don’t see it working. All these psychopath politicians want what Trump has, and overturning election results would just make Trump the true God Emperor of the party.

Conservatives vote for Republicans to keep the black people out of their neighborhoods, put the LGBT people back in the closet and to spit down on the poor. There is a reason that Republican politicians become RINOs as soon as they are out of office or if they dare to reach across the aisle to Democrats. Same will happen with Trump. His 30% stuck with him and loved him cause he said the quiet parts out loud. But they'll move on to the next ghoul who follows suit.

Trump really is not this unique figure that people think he is. He is the laughing stock of the capitalist class. The next fascist we get out of the GOP will be a competent one who knows how to use the same rhetoric as Trump but unlike him, isn't a moron and will usher in an era of fascism for the country. Trump was a dumbass and he was more concerned with enriching himself, his family and his people through the presidency than anything else. He was more of a neocon at the end of the day.

But when you edit your comment just to make it more aggressive, you kinda make that hard

Didn't intend to make it more aggressive, just thought it was funny. "Everyone is a lib on this site, except me I'm the only true leftist", thought to be fair I do consider this "issue" as another liberal panic perpetuated by the MSM.

Regarding fascism in America, we've mostly been there since the Bush administration and I think Biden will have a greater chance of creating a "fascist America" than Trump ever did (if you look at his cabinet), and most of the "fascist" panic is about liberals loosing control of the political narrative.

It's like proto-fascist infighting. Neither party is all the way there, both very obviously want to be.

That's exactly what they're doing with the coup narrative. It's to distract you from the fact Biden is putting together a nightmare of a cabinet.

Once Trump is a memory from the oval office, they're going to be scratching their heads looking for some new distraction. The problem they have is that people voted this year expecting Dems to actually do something and Biden don't have the charisma of Obama to sell us bullshit when things continue to get worse.

I don't think the author thinks Trump will succeed. I think the main concern is that some Qanoners will go and do some terrorism cause Trump lost and they think the system is rigged.

but how can you have any certainty about this?

Fox news not going along with it makes me think it's just failing flailing

"Who knows" is ofc the right take, but when you have a podcast you gotta come out on a side and that one makes most sense to me
