I'm so American that I read that as "give everyone $1500 so they can afford to buy the vaccine". I have some serious healthcare cost anxiety. :amerikkka:

It is exactly the kind of lib shit I think is dumb but honestly you can probably bribe 30-50% of chuds to get it with $1500. If they gave out the vaccine for free tomorrow half of the population wouldn't get it on purpose as well as another chunk that will be too busy working 3 gig jobs to get it. 100% of the three job folks would get it immediately for $1500 and you'd have lots of maga folks parking down the street and walking to the clinic in a mask and sunglasses so nobody thinks they're a libtard.

If this happens, buy up all the liquid band-aid at your local stores and resell it on Craigslist. Chuds won't be able to walk around with a bandage right where all the vaxxers have one

Normally requiring some action in order to receive cash transfers from the government just serves to reduce the number of people receiving aid, and liberals love to use "incentives" to get people to do stuff. This is just one of the few instances I'd support it.

Ah that makes sense. I was thinking of this primarily as a way to get people vaccinated. It'd certainly be better if we paid people to stay home, and then gave them this extra incentive to get vaccinated on top of that.

I’d assume he means that it’d normally be stupid to make the stimulus conditional rather than universal, but given that we live in a country where so many people’s minds have been poisoned by capitalism and hyper-individualism, bribing them is pretty much the only way you could get enough people to get the vaccine

The problem is that vaccine rollout will be anything but uniformly distributed even in the best case. Completely tying it to vaccination will most likely ensure that the people who could use the money the most will have a harder time actually getting it. Having it as a smaller bonus stimulus on top of a noncontingent rollout of checks is a better plan imo. Also weakens the case that antivax psychos will try to make, since it's less obviously coercive if it's "just a bonus".

Can't wait for the stimulus to slowly wither away as it goes through the channels of power, going from $1400 to some Pokemon cards and a bit of lint lol

As long as there is an inclusion for people for which the vaccine is counterindicated, it seems okay to me.

So how much is the vaccine going to cost? I'm assuming $1,500 from how poorly this was worded.

“pays for itself w/ economic boost from ending pandemic”

They actually think they’re going to end it by continuing to do nothing huh?
