I feel fuckin bad for the nurses tbh. Things are going to be apocalyptic for them for a while 😓

the fact that he feels cosy talking about election fraud just goes to show they don't actually believe their own bullshit, it's just a comforting mythology for them.

I honesty think this is going to be apocalyptic in the way this current spike will hit hospitals, we're already exceeding capacity. It's going to be nation wide "covid pits" where you're left to rot because you aren't the spouse of a doctor.

you’re left to rot because you aren’t the spouse of a doctor sufficiently wealthy and probably white.

I think you're totally correct, but you're being waaay too cynical about only doctor's spouses getting treated. There will still be a lot of other people who will receive medical care, they just won't be poor people. And who gives a shit about them anyway, right?

Yeah now is an extra scary time to get it. I think the spike in deaths will be even larger than the massive spike in cases. Quality of care will diminish as there aren't enough beds, nurses, and ventilators

Yeah I really have no idea why people don't get this. The virus itself isn't the biggest concern of itself, the real problems start when hospitals are overwhelmed. The whole 1% fatality rate is assuming some level of decent healthcare and that's gonna shoot up as soon as there's no real healthcare. So too are other preventable deaths not COVID related.

I dunno what it will take to get the American govt to take the threat seriously. Apparently city authorities digging mass graves didn't do it so fuck knows what will.

It's so dumb and frustrating at how avoidable this was. My state was one of the leading states when it comes to keeping numbers low, then it started skyrocketing in late October, early November. Now I live in the most-affected county in the state and even more scared to leave the house.

Yeah, it sucks. Luckily it was just me and my dad today, and he's sick rn (he's getting a covid test tomorrow, wish us luck). The house across the street from us had at least 12 cars in the driveway and road, which could easily be 30 people. People are fucking stupid.

My entire family back home have been going through COVID the last two weeks. Thankfully they've all been relatively okay. I called my mom today and she asked if I was going to come home for Christmas (about 800 miles, 5 states away), felt heartbreaking when I could only let out a weak chuckle and try to change the subject. This shit fucking sucks, man.

Yeah my grandad tested positive for COVID on Thanksgiving, and he wasn't out and about at all much lately. I'm concerned because he's my only chill grandparent (still conservative but just a nice and quiet person).

Not enough nurse appreciation in this thread for my taste: things have been, are, and continue to be apocalyptic for nurses and a bunch of different hospital staff in the US. Please fact check me, but an EMT would benefit from. $15 minimum wage: ??? The ones who have to barge into the viscera and save people in their most dire hour can't buy a house in the community they serve? They struggle to order a pizza and a PPV sports event after healing a mountain of trauma???? Fuck you.

Nurses are understaffed by design and are struggling to find the right equipment. The supply chain is shot and they get the shitty gloves, off-brand supplies, and a constant vibration of new rules & executive decisions. Doctors diagnose and prescribe, but there is a full operation that tests and treats people before medicine gets involved. The backbone of the hospital gets absolutely shit on. My friend who works at the hospital in Liberal Mountain, Idaho where we all live (it's right across the street from the Adrenachrome factory where I work) said something about a salary cap. Like there's an amount where the hospital decides that they would be overpaid. As if the people making a decision like that aren't the most overpaid pieces of shit profiting off of corpses and critical injuries & illnesses.
