If a leftist doesn't make much money, they're just jealous of success and should get a real job.

If a leftist makes a lot of money, they're just a champaign socialist hypocrite.

          Both are rhetorical traps.

Love to be told "get a job" by a gen x ancap who's never actually worked a day in their lives.

convinced it's exclusively people who have never worked who use this line. It's not "get a job, like me" it's "shut the fuck up and work for me you peasant"

Technically they can have jobs, but always had nice cushy jobs. I know several guys that had well connected parents so that they got a very good white collar job at a parent's friends company after graduating at the height of the recession and then fast tracked for an executive job despite being some of the dumbest, laziest people I know. They all are very conservative and think this way.

      Was this one of you?

The gym allows them to retain 100% of the benefits of their labour, which if anything will push them further left. Does anyone know of a workout program where 95% of your gainz go to the guy who owns the squat rack?

Hearing this from a 14 year old basically admitting, "I don't have a soul" is pretty disturbing. These are the kids who become Peter Thiels if they're successful and school shooters if they aren't.

Eh, they're most likely just a fucking nerdy kid who wants to feel distinct and superior to their peers, so they wound up with a "neoliberal" identity through contrarianism.

I knew a kid in middle school and high school who used a briefcase instead of a backpack and always wore dress slacks and a tie. He started organizing for Mitt Romney during the 2008 primaries before we graduated lol

Mitt was a bro in 2008, he was the first politician that talked about universal Healthcare that I heard of. But then he got weird and turns out he wears magical underwear so its a hard pass now.

Losing the primary in 2008 probably had something to do with him turning more to right wing ghoul. I wasn’t politically literate in 2008, so I don’t remember him being anything more than a flip flopping, concern trolling cog, lol.

we might be moving toward a pre-WWII Germany situation

Huh, wonder whose fault that is... :curious-marx:

Also, a kid in their first year of HS posting on r/neoliberal? How does that happen?

Chabanais (I think it is their handle) became a mod of r/conservative when they were around that age.

As to how, have insufferable lib parents that sneer on poor people.

"We might be moving towards a pre-wwII Germany situation." Ah, so what you're saying you little shit is that as soon as the communists get strong enough you're going to throw your lot in with fascists, gotcha.

It's comforting to be reminded most of these people are in high school, like I was basically a weird libertarian at that time period, they can still learn to have less cringe political views.

We put that directly in the oof column. Fortunately I was just barely too young to vote in that election or I might have done the same. My cringe vote was Hillary, I was working my way down the lib to leftist pipeline and still had some silly ideas about running up the score on the popular vote to own the chuds.

Thank God I wasn't able to vote in 2000 because I remember talking to a girl from my high school on MSN Messenger about how lame and boring Al Gore was.

I'd honestly get your leftist friends to read Luxemburg's "Reform/Revolution" and Bernstein's "Evolutionary Socialism" if they get through that.

Honestly Luxemburg is the reason I'm a liberal and if they read her and aren't convinced she's totally wrong then they earned radicalism.

Yeah, let the leftists read theory, that'll show them :galaxy-brain:

How can someone recommend Bernstein and Rosa in the same breath? Reform or Revolution is basically just debunking Bernstein and saying revolution is necessary lol

"the reform is the revolution, we just need revolutionary reforms"

or something like that. What suprises me though is that neolibs don't even want basic social democratic reforms. Do they think Rosa is talking about means-tested tax cuts on starting a small business or something?

    • cum_drinker69 [any]

Pretty sure Rosa didn't fall on the reform side of the reform or revolution debate lol.

Love seeing baby brains act like they can teach anyone anything and then immediately reveal they don't know shit.

This is the same logic as my aunt suggesting I should have had sex and drugs before going to college so I don't overdo it once there. Joke's on her because I'm not cool enough to get sex or drugs.
