I can't imagine sharing walls with a monorail is fun. Then again, my backyard was active railroad tracks for a few years so 🤷♂️
I wouldn't wanna be in the apartment directly under it. But I don't think a properly designed monorail would necessarily be disruptively loud, as long as they accelerate/de-accelerate at a proper distance from the station. The station announcements and door chimes would probably drive you crazy though!

They glide as softly as a cloud.
Probably makes more sense in a mixed use building. Commercial under monorail under residential.
Assuming that the noise mostly travels downwards, which sounds plausible but I'd definitely want to check.
On one hand looks like a super dope place to live. On the other - I bet the noice and vibrations are quite uncomfortable
Monorails aren't as loud as regular trains. Here's an example from Disney world. The biggest nuisance is probably birds and other wildlife getting in through the opening.
I think I read once that they're pretty sought after apartments among people who work in the city because they can get to the train much faster and spend less time walking/commuting to train stations
yes, you are a smart person:
Here are my post about it

Chongqing is like the Chinese city equivalent of San Francisco (incredibly hilly) combined with Pittsburgh (start of the Yangtze river) combined with New Orleans Cajun creole cuisine (famously spicy food that combines Sichuanese with other influences coming up the river). Totally work a weekend trip from Chengdu if you are ever in the area.
Holy shit the new orleans thing makes it seem like it would blow out my anus
The Chongqing cliche is "hot weather, hot food, hot women." If you are sensitive to spicy food then you definitely want to make sure to get the hot pot ying-yang style (one half of it is spicy, the other half is mild broth)
Hope those walls are well insulated for sound control. All I can think of is this: Blues Brothers
That's good to see. I've always been pretty sensitive to loud noises, so my kneejerk reaction to that picture was a hearty no thanks, but if it's quiet then it would be pretty fantastic to just ride an elevator down to the station for your commute.
The escalator connecting the train and subway stations is kind of like its own amusement park ride. It's over 350 feet long and 170 feet in height.
Reminds me of that one building in Japan that has a highway going through it.
Oh 100%. This building is just an interesting case where the city wanted to build a highway, the land owners wanted to build a building, and a unique compromise was reached.
Although speaking of subways though, that's an area that Japan excels in. May I introduce you to the absolutely gorgeous Tokyo subway system map?
