Just because you can’t wake up and say you’re serving the motherland does not mean you can’t wake up and absolutely crush it as a communist in a capitalist world. You can wake up and serve yourself, serve your community, and do as much as you possibly can to dismantle oppressive structures and get us one step closer to a communist future. Do self care, but don’t grow complacent.
“Complacency is the enemy of study. We cannot really learn anything until we rid ourselves of complacency.” - Mao
Edit: we need something corny like /c/motivation or /c/discipline it’ll actually be so helpful

The only issue I have with that is being "the best". By virtue of the word there is only one "best"/"smartest"/etc so not everyone can be that. However, (very kumbaya incoming) everyone can do their best which should be seen as good enough.
This is good, because currently MY best is keeping a streak going for days on the earth and not much else.

I totally agree. It's probably slightly-to-decently pedantic to complain about the phrasing of "the best" and I totally agree with the point of it all.
Just there's a common mental trap of having to be "the best" at something and that if you can't be that it's pointless to try. It's something I used to fall victim to a lot, so I'm just overly careful about using hard line "best" language.

Damn, I still fall victim to that all the time because of my upbringing. It really is as easy as just doing it anyway, though. Thanks for the much-needed reminder!

Lenin also said this constantly, as did trotsky
At last... ML/Trot unity around being chads
all communists are chads, or their gender equivalent
This is how I aspire to be. I work hard on the job, I hit the gym, I educate myself, I try to be a caring and loving person. Because not everyone knows I’m a leftist, but when they find out I want them to be “surprised” because I’m a good person and work hard. What helps me to not get miserable at work is to try to create some sense of working solidarity. The company as a whole doesn’t even cross my mind when I’m doing a difficult task and doing a favor for a coworker. I only focus on my coworkers and making their lives and jobs as easy as possible
This is great, I agree 100%. The best way to radicalize someone is to lead by example. We should all strive to become the antifa supersoldier.

Beautifully put. The late Michael Brooks had similar thoughts regarding personal excellence. He understood his personal excellence in media wasn't at odds with his emotional investment in the political project served by his career. You aren't going to get people on our side whose brains are properly poisoned by the go-get-em #teamnosleep grind culture if we don't incorporate the importance of personal achievement and excellence. This can be decoupled from toxic individualism and you can absolutely be a socialist and want to live up to the fullest extent of your potential. Go get those awards, go get that recognition, go get that promotion, go win those games, etc, while also focusing on our internationalist project.
Michael Brooks and hustler socialism, never forget.
