literally all they had to do was use html5 <video> with no modifications. it's not like they need a fancy custom player for hotkeys or preroll ads because they DON'T HAVE ANY. IT JUST PLAYS A VIDEO

Yeah it's not like YouTube operates at a loss on its own and Vimeo is dead, but surely reddit can reinvent the wheel of both video hosting, compression and playback and do it better than literally everyone else though magic somehow? Fuck it lets just add streaming too (actually exists, live streaming on reddit is possible now though broadcasts or whatever it's called)
It's really funny because people have to pay something like a dollar per minute to keep the reddit livestream going otherwise they just shut it off

I get free points annually pretty much for modding a ~10K size sub, they're definitely not making anywhere near 100% of the awards you see given out.
Eh yeah not directly I guess. admins give out like 20K points to decent sized subs to give to top posters for the year. I’m usually one of them and I do most of the daily shit so the head mod gives me a bunch. We only have a couple dozen active posters pretty much so I can’t imagine how many points they give out to other subs.
Idk you have to take into account that the C-level people probably make a shit ton of money because they're so good at not making money.
