so i actually know a leftist black guy who couldnt swim and i helped teach him. he just didnt live near a clean body of water and a lot of ways to get access to swimming was too cost prohibitive for him.
i was a disgusting kid i would just go swim in this really gross lake that had leeches in it. he actually lived near the same lake as me but he had more sense lol
Nothing like swimming in a giant pool full of the shit and cum of every fish that ever lived.
I was on the swim team in high school, the top swimmers wouldn't get out of the water if they had to go to the bathroom they just pissed while they swam. I think about this a lot.
You know the classic "pool" smell? It doesn't get that until enough people piss in it.
The urine reacts with the chlorine in the water and creates an irritant that makes your eyes red.
no, chlorine just makes your eyes burn, it has nothing to do with piss.

This says any bodily fluid including sweat, how are you not gonna get whatever sweat on you in the pool? I doubt its a majority piss.
Also chlorine itself does just burn. Ive been in an overtreated pool before and it can even burn your skin if theres too much chlorine.
it has nothing to do with piss.
I doubt its a majority piss.
Is your goalpost on wheels?
Ive been in an overtreated pool before
Of course a poorly treated pool will irritate your eyes, pH is an issue.
how are you not gonna get whatever sweat on you in the pool
Of course you can't keep all bodily fluids out of a pool, that's not the point. You will eventually have to change the water even if nobody pees in it. The point is to avoid needlessly dumping waste into the pool, because that means that they'll either have to change the water out sooner, or the water will be more contaminated with chloramines (and thus more irritating) until it's changed out at the next regular time.
Also, I'm not sure I agree that there is more sweat than pee in most pools. If you're doing heavy laps for an hour you'll sweat about a liter. All it takes is for a kid to relieve their bladder once to dump that much in. But that's beside the point. If you can easily avoid further contaminating the pool by walking to the urinals, then do so.
I swam with a year-round program for 14 years, and about 11 or 12 of those were competitive. When I was four I fell in a river in october in one of the colder states. My parents were inside and wouldnt have been able to get to me in time even if they saw me. Somehow I managed to swim out because my dad had insisted I go to swim lessons from like two onwards so, I kind of knew what to do. It saved my life so I stuck with it.
I am scared of the ocean now I can't imagine how terrified of it I would be if I couldn't swim. Like if you fall in you just sink, that's FUCKED
can you drive a manual car? If not, its the same deal lol
"just do it right!"
"What does that mean?!" kills engine
i learned how to drive manual mostly off youtube videos and they were actually really helpful! sometimes im in awe of all the free resources available
when my dad taught me he just told me to "feel it" and got frustrated when I said that meant nothing to me
that sucks lol. definitely can do a better job than that! and it can be so frustrating when people expect you to get it quickly. it took me a loong time to get comfortable
Why did it make you afraid of water? I understand fears of deep ocean water, but not water in general
I actually love swimming and I love being on the water but I also have that fear of deep water. Fuck swimming in the ocean and feeling kelp tickle your feet from depths you can't see. Fucccccckkkkk that.
Used to be a swim instructor.
First step for both front/back progressions is being able to completely relax your body with your head in the water. If you have a bathtub at home, you could use that to help with this. On your front, you can practice relaxing with your head fully submerged (I find goggles help for this cause it's nice being able to see). On your back, you can lie down in it with the water high enough to just submerge the ears.
i do the relax thing and exhale thing and my legs just turn into anchors why can't my legs float
Maybe cause they're dense? My legs naturally sink too. Need to perform some sort of kick to keep them up.
I used to have trouble floating when I was a kid with almost no body fat or muscle. Do you have really scrawny legs?
yes, i have sticks for legs and regularly break those bmi detectors
Keep your lungs full. If you're someone like me with little fat, it's going to be the air that keeps you floating.
No one ever said your entire body has to be <12 inches below the surface, lagging legs with a chest above the water is just as valid of floating as any kind.
Almost drowned when I was five
Not gonna go in deep water ever again
i can swim, i.e. breaststroke to shore if needed.
My skinny like 10% bodyfat ass can't tread water to save his life, though.
