Every thread about COVID on my local subreddit is full of people lamenting how many small businesses are shuttering.

Everytime I've gone biking in the ravines in my city, I'm seeing more and more tents popping up. I almost never see people on reddit talk about this kind of shit except when they need to defend landlords because "they need to pay their mortgages too." I live in a pretty liberal neighbourhood and honestly this is the general feeling I get from people too. People are just oblivious that tons of people are losing their homes but god forbid their fav shawarma place shuts down, then we have to talk about how the pandemic is hurting the real people who matter.

Man, imagine being an FBI agent getting paid to read posts about communist board games and dinosaurs. Wish I was getting paid for this, how do I get that job?

Me: I'll start online dating once I grow some more diverse interests and have something to show for

Also me: Doesn't do any of that

You're much more interesting than you give yourself credit for. Just be authentic that's what people like. If someone doesn't click with you it's not worth the trouble to be torn up because you aren't missing out on anything by not being with them.

I honestly believe it's better to be single for a while when you're young so you can grow as an individual and find out what you want out of life. So many people jump into dating, and eventually living together, before they are ready. It's better to be alone than to abdicate your own personal development in favor of building a relationship with someone who does not have the same values, interests, or life goals - because neither of you know what those are yet.

Can we do something to reduce the negativity on here? I don't mean dunking or news but stupid internet forum shit. Reading posts like "if you like g*mes, fuck you" or anything from "monogamous relationships are about controlling your partner and built on insecurity and jealousy" to "believing in sentient alien life is perpetrating imperialist ideology" really isn't it for me. I understand it's the dark time of thr year but still

Y'all ever rewatch childhood cartoons and realize how deeply they imprinted themselves upon your psyche?

Like, seriously, the first few seasons (aka the good ones) of SpongeBob appear to be tattooed into my brain. Do I say anything original ever or just quotes that people forgot were quotes?

The funny thing is that the economy would genuinely be better off if they gave a better stimulus. It mostly goes to landlords/credit card companies anyways, why not give a bunch of money?

As of tonight, my head has gone from Marxist to Lenninist. I'm going to miss the dream of having nice hair, but it was long overdue to part ways.

Feeling about 17 different emotions about it right now so thats cool.

I'm visiting with family in rural Michigan. They are all somewhere between worker, lumpen, and petite bourgeois. They are all armed to the teeth. Every other conversation is about overthrowing the US government, or complaining about tech companies, media companies, and bankers.

They also think the uprisings in major cities are part of the conspiracy because Liberal NGOs have dumped billions into co-opting the movement. My parents literally thought protesters were pro-Amazon and pro-Liberal media because they both "support" BLM.

We agree on the biggest issues, but they are disconnected from the political struggle in the cities. I'm trying to convince them they have more to gain from an alliance with these uprisings.
