IIRC, all of the rivers of the underworld fucked up memory, although in different ways.
Lethe took away memory for it was the river of forgetfullness, Styx was the river of hatred that bound the gods by oath, Archaron was the river of pain or woe, Phlegethon was the river of fire, and Cocytus was the river of wailing.
