TZ still has that post-war sheen to it; I think the optimism of the time still shows in the writing. Afaik most technology-based episodes revolved around space exploration and alien encounters. It’s idyllic. I’m a sucker for these things so I find it charming.

BM is all doom and gloom. Iphone bad, social media is evil (but really tho), etc. Every episode has to have some social critique that we already get from our favorite podcasters. TZ also doesn’t try to give some forced moral each episode.

It's a fine show, but as an anthology show it can be pretty hit or miss. All the contrarians here will tell you it's bad lib shit. Just check out some episodes from seasons 1 or 2. I don't recommend the first episode.

I'd say watch Fifteen Million Merits and White Christmas at least. Those two are definitely good episodes

If your idea of a great SF tv series is unintentionally rehashing mid period Philip K Dick it's fine.

I used to watch Brooker's Newswipe and other things he did back 10 years ago. He is good at noticing when things are shit and he has a good understanding of technology. But he also has no understanding of politics or systemic issues. So he's able to create concepts about how technology could do shit things, but has nothing more to offer than that.

I've heard that the only episode worth watching is Sam Junipero, but I'm also a lesbian

This is more cool detached nihilist Gen X Twilight zone, "everything is meaningless and get off your phone and just talk at the table."
