White collar high-income professionals living vicariously through worthless public figures. To acknowledge those people are useless is existentially threatening.

EDIT: I'd also say a lot of these people probably work bullshit jobs that create little to no real value for society, they know it deep down, and thus achieve a sense of self-worth in a hollow capitalist society by closely identifying with these people. They don't want to admit that all the debt and hard work it took to get those prestigious credentials and pay grades were fucking worthless in the end.

being a PMC liberal with a worthless job is having Imposter-syndrome but it's real, you're actually a bloodsucking imposter

"our leaders are capable, and have our best interests at heart" is a comforting notion, it just doesn't hold up to the slightest scrutiny

This isn't even quite that though. I think part of what's so gross is that it isn't really even about the leaders, and it's definitely not directed at them. It's them telling you to shut up, but gaslighting you instead of just saying "shut up."

They want desperately to not have to think or care about politics anymore. They'll grasp at anything to rationalize that to themselves, to the point of telling other people that being politically engaged when the Democrats are in power is bad, actually.

The way they talk about this is so gross. I can't quite put my finger on it but it's surreal and horrible and I hate it.

Libs talk about their leaders like they're fucking royalty.

They're also simultaneously acting like they're minority heroes and you are a bigot if you say anything against them because they are sensitive and marginalised BUT ALSO royalty. It's so fucking weird.

It's the whole parasocial relationship these people exert. KHive was by far the worst I think out of any i've seen in politics besides chuds. But Pelosi is really fucking close too.

yes. I can't quite put my finger on it either, but it's a specific thing, and I absolutely hate it. It's this sort of combination of smugness, wrongness, gaslighting, invalidation, sanctimoniousness...

These are all very appropriate adjectives lol

Except gaslighting which isn't an adjective and also I hate how it is used.

This shit honestly sucks worse than post Trump inauguration. At least that was funny. This has been insufferable, unbearable and has contributed to my stress levels unnecessarily.

Libs really need to get pied in the face. Over and over and over again until the realize how big of clowns they are being

God I don't know what is worse, the endless gloating of Trumpies after the election or the lame ass #Girlboss politics of today.

They literally have no idea how power works. Even in the most cynical way they have no idea how things work. Its a give and take.
