It's a small image usually with a url specific to the recipient. The distributor usually monitors when the image is downloaded from their server and what IP address is requesting it.
The most common case is for companies to monitor if/when certain email addresses open an email. This is why email providers often make you hit the "load images" or "always load images from this sender" button before it loads images.

Also, you can start an image post, upload your image, never submit the post, and then the image is hosted on Chapo's servers and you can link it; though that's a side effect of the way the form works and I imagine any image not actually linked to an actual post will eventually get wiped by a crontab or similar.

Yeah this pretty much. The way some people view relationships through some pseudo transactional lens really infuriates me. Like oviously don't be a complete deadbeat or anything, but it's a human relationship, this isn't build a person where someone handpicks the traits they want from someone in exchange for their own. Like what happened to spending time and building relationships (both romantic and platonic) with others because you enjoy their company and have fun with them?

Either way I think it works, idleness from lack of relationship, frustration, social ostracisation. The anger it generates is very easy to channel into a fashy military machine promising glory and status.

I've honestly never come across people more entrenched in their self hatred than those who believe in incel ideology. About ten years ago, i stumbled upon them on /r9k/. They didn't call themselves incels back then, instead using terms like " foreveralone" or "permavirgin". As naive and bloomerish as i was back then, i thought "hey, i'm a socially awkward nerd and still happy with my love life, i know a ton of other socially awkward nerds that are the same, maybe i can help these people." Boy, was i wrong. You can't get through to them. Nothing works. Ten years later, i came across the ContraPoints video about incels and it turns out they now have memes to counter every. single. thing. people might tell them that goes against their notion of being irredeemably unfuckable.
