None of this shit would be necessary if America hadn't absolutely fucked the dog over the initial response. Hundreds of thousands of people are going to die because of a failure of leadership across political parties and across the country. If Trump was really the existential threat that the Dems pretend he is, this event is proof that even they didn't take their own shit seriously because they allowed it to get this bad and they allowed the Republicans to push their bullshit without sufficient opposition. If Covid doesn't kill me my rage is going to give me a fucking heart attack.

its not just a failure of leadership from individuals, its literally a system intentionally designed to breed incompetence and individualism.

Wow we are so fucked. 72% chance someone's got it for the standard classroom size in my country. The people who want to reopen schools are literally child killers.

I really don't want to get this disease. I'm already extremely fortunate that I live in a pretty desolate part of the country, but I feel like some tourist mother fucker from Texas, Arizona or California is going to ruin my life.

I'm curious to see if all the rich ski tourists come to my city and neighboring ski towns this winter.

We have multiple ski valleys near one another and it's basically boiling down to how the individual places handle it so far because the county sheriffs are basically being called in our area to deal with the tourist problem and they're literally just going to the business owners and saying that they support them.

I live in Oklahoma were no one is taking this seriously. Plus, we recently moved in with my in-laws (tons of reasons, their health being one of them) and my MIL insists on working as a teacher this fall in though her district is basically doing nothing about the pandemic. She has teachers' retirement and doesn't need a job. She can literally just quit but still wants to go in. She's been complaining about people not taking the pandemic seriously all summer and pulls this shit. I also don't mean to pull this card, but I have asthma and other lung problems. She could literally kill me.

My husband has an in person class at university; so once a week he has like a 55% chance of COVID. I have a genetic condition that makes me at risk for complications. Should I be worried I'm gonna die? We wear a mask everywhere but I fear that won't be enough.

I don't want to worry you more than necessary, but a standard issue face mask is designed to protect the outside world from your aerosols, and is much less effective the other way around.

Thanks to my medical issues I have a personal stock of N95s from before the pandemic which filter our 95% of what you breathe in... but I'm still paranoid.
