It's good to remember all the time, not just right now. No one knows where you live. Who you work for. Your name. Everything is a lie. Everything is the truth. Protect yourselves, comrades.

      Alt:

Do none of this, if you're killed by the CIA for your leftists beliefs then that is an ACHIEVEMENT.

If you're really worried about government tracking there's pretty much nothing you can do other than go off the grid. Governments and agencies definitely have access to all that personal information that is gathered 24/7. And besides, I'm a 27 year old chicken farmer in Albania, why would the government care about me.

The people you really need to worry about are the terminally online fascists, the 4chan types who have nothing better to do than dox some online leftist. Fascists have a habit of doxing people in the LGBTQ+ community, and if they get their hands on your public information they could do something abhorrent like give it to dangerous fascists near you or tell your family that you're a pedophile.

Tor isn't compromised and it's safer than using VPN as you don't need to trust one entity.

I hate to do this but these kind of questions have been asked and answered a lot on r/TOR

There's a fuckton of fingerprinting methods. They're a hell of a lot easier than running a massive number of tor exit nodes.

Canvas fingerprinting is probably the most common method to identify users, but you can exfiltrate data using CSS and no javascript.

I have a few browser extensions to circumvent these methods. Also I'm pretty sure Bromite and Ungoogled-chromium also implement the same measures in the browser. I recommend using either browser (or Firefox with a few privacy extensions) and every platform you can, especially mobile. If you're reading this, immediately download F-Droid, and use it to download one of these browsers.

I'm assuming feds run enough exit nodes to lower the amount of fingerprinting necessary to de-anonymize people. TOR is still likely a lot safer than otherwise, but it should not be the end of your opsec

Not very tech savvy or familiar with the concept of "tunnels" care to point me in the direction of some info that might help me out? Was gonna use the Tor+Tails combo for some online praxis, so I'd appreciate anything to help cover my ass.
