...but please stay healthy comrades. The revolution needs healthy people. Moderation is key. Stay hydrated. Eat well. Hit the gym. Capitalism drives down the proles, making them turn to drugs and alcohol so they do not revolt. Do not fall for it.

A fascist hit the gym today, did you?

Tbh I’m probably just gonna be straight edge for like the rest of my life. I’ve seen too many of my friends and coworkers get hooked on shit and fuck their lives up. Like I’d rather just raw dog life and be moderately miserable then be super fucking miserable when I’m not on shit

Straight edge is the safest and most fulfilling way to go. After a while, I can't understand why people choose not to be sober all the time. You can actually react and deal with things when you are sober.

Yeah I grew up in an area ravaged by drugs and to me the celebration of it just turns me off. I'm not straight edge or anything but I've seen how that shit tears communities apart

Same, that's why I made this post. Drugs are cool and should be legalized, but I dont like them being glorified.

I wish I lived somewhere that I could do that without risking literally killing family members

Go on reddit r/bodyweight fitness and try the recommended routine

Highly reccomend a couple of dumbells (whatever feels moderately heavy to do curls with) and a doorframe pull up bar. You can get decent milage out of that when gyms aren't an option, as long as you commit to the time and reps.

Something I find kind of interesting is that Spanish Anarchists during and way before the civil war were really anti-drugs of all kinds. "Capitalism drives down the proles, making them turn to drugs and alcohol so they do not revolt. Do not fall for it." Is word for word something they'd say, except in Spanish of course.

You're not lighting that petrol bomb with a cigarette, are you comrade?

Do we have a swoletariat here on the lemmy? I want to create a fitness accountability group. I also want to show off my sick quads to other proles.

Right! Good plan I would also love a red martial arts group. Daoism/confucian elements tie strongly into socialism/communism tenets.

    The revolution needs healthy people.

I agree 100%. We need some kind of fitness or self care or self improvement sub where we can encourage this stuff. Something like r/swoletariat but maybe broader so that we can include all aspects of mental and physical fitness. We need to be ready when shit hits the wall.

Drugs aren't good or bad. They are just chemicals. However, many of these chemicals make you feel good because they make you're brain light up all the available serotonine and dopamine. The problem starts because you feel fine weeks before your serotinine is at regular capacity. Do it again too early and your hormone batteries won't fill up completely. Then monthly use becomes weekly use becomes daily use. Also, acid does bind on your serotonine receptors but it simulates serotonine instead of increasing serotonine concentrations. Therefore you will not have the same problems with it as you have with opioids or coke. So not so addiction problems here.

My understanding is you're still liable to downregulate your serotonin receptors from regular overstimulation. Can anyone with more knowledge expound?

I do love to trip, but the times I've done it when I shouldn't have (tired, bad location, not dealing with underlying issues etc) have made it more of an ordeal than it needed to be. It's no magic fix, but you know that I'm sure.

Thanks! It's one of those things where I know I don't know enough.

I've definitely experienced the 'nondescript anxiety' as a general heightening of my background anxieties. I'm in a fortunate enough position where I can seek help for that unearthed trauma, so overall it's been a positive to me. I do worry for people with less support structures though...

          Nice chart!

Yes, you're right. However, this also only goes for drugs like coke, opioids, meth etc. Basically, when you tell your brain to release more serotonine, it also developes more receptors. These receptors dismantle over time, but it takes way longer. When one feels craving that's the receptors screaming for hormones. The more receptors the harder they scream. Therefore it can take month, maybe years for some people, depending on their drug and dose. That's the reason i find "psychological" addiction very missleading. It's not your mind that's making up the need for the drug, it's the receptors.

Your brain will not create more serotonine receptors form one or two trips/rolls/lines/whatever. The quantity makes the poison. Except for acid. There are reports of people mixing up acid crystals with coke and snorting a line, which is about 100 - 500 doses of lsd. They all had a very bad trip but felt great afterwards. Oh, just found the article. It's in German but anyways: https://www.vice.com/de/article/pkeqd8/lsd-acid-das-passiert-bei-einer-uberdosis

counter point: do shrooms they're super healthy

you can exercise on shrooms (though you won't want to), you can ride a bike on shrooms, you can play sports on shrooms, you can play musical instruments on shrooms. If you do these activities on the comedown half of the trip, you'll do them better than when you're not on shrooms. nb: this requires taking shrooms often enough to get used to how things are on shrooms.

for example, I'm not addicted to shrooms (I just take them a lot and reccomend them to everyone I know - this is more like a prophetic or gospel function, i am more or less an extention of the mycelial network by now), but I am addicted to exercise. If you exercise a lot and then stop for a week while your muscles start atrophying and it gives you backache. You can't be addicted to shrooms I assure you, you can only come to realise how good it is to take shrooms.

you can pick or grow shrooms without feeding into the capitalist system as well.

so really, you should get addicted to exercise, and also take shrooms. i'm not convinced about the moderation part when it comes to shrooms.

All drugs can be used safely and healthily.

Psychedelic chauvinism is not only self-defeating, it's also super annoying. And yes, moderation and caution is good, even with shrooms.

My friend created r/cleanlivingcomrades in this spirit, but it was recently banned. It had practically no one using it. It was just him and his girlfriend posting.
