The entire point is that the US were so anti-communist that they destroyed the entire world and slaughtered billions, all for the sake of private property. Kings are cool, but they're not doing anything. Followers are the ones doing mutual aid. They still tolerate crime. They even let the Van Graffs seize a plot of land and turn it into private property. They respect them for it.

House could theoretically maintain an iron grip on Nevada forever, while Caesar's Legion has a ticking timebomb in its chest.
Also I think Caesar's Legion inevitably loses to the New California Republic, whereas House would probably nuke it (or at the very least glass it with an army of robots.)

Also I'd like to point out I am not saying Legion = Good or critical support, I am saying they are not necessarilly the 100% worst faction as you said. I think House has the potential to be a greater evil than the legion. There is no 100% worst faction, because much like real life Fallout lore is messy with no "good" or "bad" guys just people operating from a position of perceived self-interest.

Caesar's Legion does not collapse if he dies. It can easily take the whole Mojave according to the end slides. Numerous characters state it will likely take decades after his death for it to collapse, and even then no one has any idea what comes next. Likely, it will be more of the same. A new warlord.

Mr. House's Securitron army took control of Hoover Dam and the Strip, pushing both the Legion and the exhausted NCR out of New Vegas. Mr. House continued to run New Vegas his way, a despotic vision of pre-War glory. The streets were orderly, efficient, cold. New Vegas continued to be the sole place in the wasteland where fortunes were won and lost in the blink of an eye.

IMO House-supporters are the worst. Legion is comically villainous so only like the fash minority supports them. But you'll have entire comment sections devoted to House being the obvious best choice because he says he'll send a rocket to Mars while wringing money from sex-slaves as most of humanity can barely eat.

Rifles and mid weight armor is definitely a good first play setup.
Nice. Guns tend to be nice all-rounders. Very versatile if a bit boring. Assuming you got the rifle from killing the ants on the I-15. Gives you armour piercing ammo too which is pretty rare in the early game. 12.6mm SMG is absolutely disgusting if you spec it right.
I always go for energy weapons myself. Cost more to maintain but they're more fun and pack more of a punch imo.
You'll be coming up on the Ratslayer rifle I reckon. It's off the road a bit and there are potentially difficult enemies nearby it but it's a good early game rifle. Uses 5.56 as well. Don't want to spoil where it is though unless you ask.

Snake Eater is like the MGS game with actual politics in it. The Cuban Missile crisis is mentioned along with LBJ and Khrushchev, the entire point of operation Snake Eater is the USA taking out a rogue wet work unit that were former heroes of WWII to clear their name with the soviets. Naked Snake works for the Fox Unit which is a splinter of the CIA, the GRU is there too. Like there's actual history in the game along with the fictional elements, it's probably one of the most grounded games in the series in terms of using pseudo-historical elements.
I really loved Peace Walker for carrying on the pseudohistorical stuff, then MGSV proceeded to not give a single shit about the 80s setting

MGS V was just so disappointing. I really have no desire to play it at all from what I've seen/read.
The gameplay's really nice even if it manages to wear out its welcome due to the game's padded length. Unfortunately outside of a handful of main missions the game mostly takes place in two boring open world environments with copy pasted enemy outposts that REALLY start to feel old by the end.
It's still vastly better than 4 in terms of its "enjoyable MGS gameplay to gimmicky bullshit" ratio
Yeah 4 was a mess all around, it had great ideas mixed in with terrible execution. I'm still a sucker for an old and dying snake back out again on a battlefield that's changed though, that core idea is great but the rest? eh not so much.
