I have infinitely more respect for people on gear who waited til they were ~25, close to their genetic walls, and got blood work done than most "natural" athletes

Yes but also soccer is so so boring, and men's soccer is more acting than playing

Seriously with the way they flop acting scouts should start hovering around the fields

Honestly it has half the frequency of diving basketball does. People talk about diving in soccer all the time but there is more stopping for injuries in football than dives in soccer. I think that a lot of people underrate how fast soccer players are moving and how much seemingly small hits can hurt. When you're moving 20mph while not braced for contact at all because you're doing fine motor stuff small hits can be really painful. For me personally Soccer hurts way more than I expected. Certainly more than basketball or baseball.

Also players overreact to legitimate fouls to make sure they get called.

Not to say that you're wrong for not enjoying it. Since the pandemic I've basically stopped watching sports. I couldn't do more than an hour of redzone or a half of soccer.

What sports do you like then? Racing? Hockey? Rugby? Or do you just not like sports. Because that's the exact reason I like soccer more than other sports. There is always something happening. Tactical changes, passes, dribbling, winning and keeping possession. Most sports aren't fun to watch unless you know what's going on. Soccer is like that. If you just sit there waiting for a goal you'll get mighty bored

you can't hide from me bb our love is too strong :penguin-love:

Fighting sports are great. I hardly ever watch them but I always enjoy it. I was considering starting muay thai before the rona hit. I think fighting is super cool.

My brother is super into supercross and I watch that with him sometimes.

                  Hockey sucks though

Different strokes and all, but it wouldn't be so popular if most people were bored. Like any sport, it's easier to follow when you follow a team. Low scoring games and draws become very dramatic when every point matters. Winning a 1-0 game or drawing can be the difference between winning/losing the league or suffering/avoiding relegation. There's still plenty of high scoring games still.

It's also really nice to avoid commercials and have games finish in two hours consistently.

yeah but if a game is 60 minutes long and only 1 goal is scored that's like 59 minutes of nothing happening

Like I said nothing is for everyone, but I used to think like both of y'all until I actually started watching the sport.

No. Like I said, one goal can be extremely important but also not scoring a goal can also have huge stakes if you understand the context of the season or tournament. So every save is something happening, every tackle is something happening, every miss is something, every corner can be nervous or full of anticipation.

Some games can be boring, but I've seen plenty of boring NFL games or basketball games too. It matters what games you catch, but since I've started watching, I think it has had the most exciting games and comebacks of the sports I watch.

I've watched a lot of soccer and the fact that it's just a bunch of people running back and forth with the expectation that this is probably not going to be the 30 seconds of action that decides the 60 minute game really does not do it for me at all.

Granted I've also got adhd and "constant action" sports with no discernible stop/go/test points are excruciating (I've seen too much basketball and it's very boring too even though someone scores every minute or so) but I don't think I'll ever see the appeal of just watching people run around knowing how improbable it is that this is the 30 seconds that decides the fate of the game.
