Oh yeah, just go to therapy. Lemme put on my therapy pants and take the therapy train down to therapy town where therapists grow on trees
Therapy fucking sucked for me. One referred me to a hospital within 10 minutes of meeting her. The other told me I was mooching off my parents cause I'm still dependent on them in my early twenties. He also said the n word like twenty times one session
I really hope this is a parody of people who talk like this, otherwise I just feel bad for the guy.
Yeah this is genuinely depressing. I hope the guy gets some grief counseling or something, because that shit is definitely going to be haunting him long after pop culture has moved on.
WandaVision is fun, but it's popcorn tv. This is a reflection of how bad mental healthcare is in this country.
did the vision die in the last movie?
I haven't watched one in like 3 years.then the series feels incomplete
It was never supposed to feel "complete". It was never meant to be something that can stand on its own. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
I'd argue that big status quo changes are coming and WandaVision is part of setting it up. WandaVision leads into the next Doctor Strange which probably leads into a whole bunch of multiverse bullshit which is definitely a status quo change.
But I guess I get what you mean in general. I'm not gonna argue that it's not cynical, but I guess I enjoy it enough to not care that much.
when half the cast ‘dies’ there was no real threat to the status quo. I could reasonably expect that there would be a Black Panther sequel given the previous success (before Chadwick Boseman’s death, I mean).
they would also have big Apple style conventions where they’d show “Guardians of the Galaxy 4,5&6” despite almost all of them being dusted.
worst part is i missed avengers 2 and I was severely disadvantaged at understanding and figuring out the mystery because thats both wanda and visions origin story lol
You don't know anyone who grieves by shutting down and retreating entirely into nostalgic fantasy? You must not know many libs.
I haven't seen Wandavision because I'm not a Marvel fan, but now I want to watch it just to compare it to Nomadland, which is one of the most realistic portrayals of grief I've ever seen.
Edit: However, ironically, one of my favorite quotes on grief comes from the Nolan film Batman Begins "And one day you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain" Not that I've ever experienced grief that way, nor do I believe I know anyone who has, but I think it's an interesting idea.
I mean, art can absolutely save you in tough times and even help you process stuff, but it is funny that what did it for this person is cape shit.
It's so sad that enough people are feeling so grief stricken that this lukewarm take became a meme.
Says the community that thinks "mob guy but he goes to a shrink" is the hight of drama.
i liked the new episode of WV, but it wasnt something rethink my life over
Don't you people get tired of all this superhero shit? Like every fucking bit of media news seems to involve Marvel or DC or some shit
i dont understand how people keep up with the MCU stuff. I'm a milennial gen z cusp and even before the first movie of the current avengers era had come out (which i think was iron man), I was already a little fatigued with the MCU, which had already produced 3 spidermans, 2 hulk movies with different bruce banners and 3 xmen movies and not to mention lesser MCU movies like ghost rider, daredevil and electra or the DC movies like the nolan batmans and the superman movies. Im not even that old but i feel throughly saturated by this market.
also the barrier of entry into the new MCU movies are too high with how quickly they produce stuff so it hard to think that these movies are meant for anyone else but hyper intense fans
also that period where they changed spiderman every few years, only for none of the new spidermans to be able to top toby mcguire's was brain numbing (i havent seen intro to the spideyverse though so maybe Miles Morales is the best)
i still think its funny though how i saw the first hulk with my school in like 3rd grade, the second hulk with my first middle school boyfriend where i had my first kiss and the third when i was in college
Hulk (2003) and The Incredible Hulk (2008) are the only live action Hulk movies and The Incredible Hulk is the only one that's actually in the MCU.
sorry I think i meant hulk as the 3 separate hulk actors (eric bana -2003, edward norton -2008, + mark ruffalo -2012) rather than 3 seperate hulk movies /// that sentence was weirdly constructed but also my mind might have just invented a 3rd hulk movie that never happened lol
this is the cost of MCU fatigue folks !
I can see people making Ragnarok "The Hulk 3" but that would have made your break between High School and College just super long. That's why I was confused. It's also a result of the "the first and second Hulk" being an ambiguous statement in this context. There's no MCU fatigue if you ask me. If you can follow Star Trek or Star Wars you can follow the MCU.
Toby was and always was dogshit lmao i love tom holland. Im in the exact same age bracket you mentioned too so idk if its an age thing.
with that said, i do think MCU is over rated and the barrier to entry is way to high! I can say that as I watched a good 3/4 of them and my roomates are marvel psychos who think it’s absolutely godly (i had mild wandavision crit and they hounded tf outa me)
i also have a soft spot for tom holland's spiderman because the actor/character seems super charming!
I think what makes me love toby's spidey is the campiness : the horrible 2000s fashion, MJ's horribly dyed and untoned cherry red hair complete with the lil side bangs + the green limited too robe dress , the laughable showcase of the post 911 brain worms where every time toby spiderman lands on a building theres a stupid relatively horribly CGI-d american flag rippling behind him, peter parker randomly becoming an emo incel in the 3rd movie, ICONIC IMO
dont forget doc oc check notes literally breaking into a cartoonishly large bank vault and carrying large hatch bags with dollar signs in them. LMAO how tf is doc oc gunma goto the uranium dispenser ( or whatever material they do fusion with in this world idr with a sac of cash?? or the metal materials to make his reactor??? what was the end goal of the sentient tentacles like it seemed like they knew it was a suicide mission to keep doing it? they seemed to literally talk to him as an Ai. so many questions lmao
while i like them in the way I like The room or something equally cheesy its not like good hahah
Don’t you people get tired of all this superhero shit?
Part of the joke is that we're now consuming sit coms through the lens of super-heroes. "Let's do Full House but the main characters are psychotic mystical ubermench". Americans are completely up their own assholes.
It's a money maker. It sucks because I'd rather see more new ideas out there but big studios won't take a risk on something unknown if they can just put the Marvel brand on something and make hundreds of millions of dollars whether it's good or not.
He might not be able to get it even if he wanted to tbf, we don't know.
