I'll go first:
When I say something at work that's ignored until a white dude repeats it. Doesn't happen all the time, but what the fuck.
My worst part of my day is having to monitor Chapo.chat. By far the worst website on the watchlist, and the other agents mock me for having to sort through a dozen posts of a pig pooping on their testicles.
heyyy thats 2 hours of labor you deprive your shit boss of, and still get paid!
honestly if they just paid me enough I really wouldn't have any complaints
They'd have to triple my pay at least for that to happen though :angery:
At college I noticed how differently white people and poc behave in a classroom/discussion setting. With white people they (we) would always shoot their hand up as soon as they wanted to speak, and even if they were responding to another student they would respond towards the teacher. The important thing for them (us) was always making sure that they were heard and that their opinion was valued by the professor.
With poc, especially the black students, they were a lot more fluid in terms of when they would talk, and a lot more open to hearing other people's opinions. It was more likely to be an actual discussion when a poc started it, as opposed to a cross examination of the professor/lecture. More different people would feel empowered to talk and contribute, and the class was always more pleasant as a result. It also always felt like many of the people who were considering my opinions and points the most, and who were the most likely to actually maybe change their views, were those same poc.
So I'm mostly just saying that as a white person, who has observed how much classrooms can benefit from poc voices, that your voice is valuable and appreciated and I hope you find a teacher or classmates that make you feel heard. Everyone benefits from your empowerment and you deserve so much more
:cat-trans:
it's killed my passion for my hobby lol also when I'm not feeling it it's really hard to do work since it usually hinges on my ability to be creative.
It’s soul grindingly boring and I haven’t seen my coworkers in person in a year.
Fuck man, all of this sucks so much but the chair part especially is so demeaning. Is that mostly an America thing? I've never heard of an explicit 'no sitting' rule here. Maybe I'm putting too much faith in our mostly useless government, but I want to believe that if anybody bigger than a small business tyrant tried that, they'd soon get smacked down for ableism or something.
its not just an american thing, but it is pretty much an anglo thing (canada and australia also force you to stand afaik). Death to the anglos :anglo-burn:
Probably is just an America thing. I've only seen a lack of chairs at like the registers when visiting the US.
There are chairs available for workers to sit down during their shift in South Africa and in Estonia as far as I've seen.
i don't like how it follows me home and is always with me. i am constantly thinking about work, what i need to do, how to get it done, etc.
it never used to be like this. ever since covid hit i've got way too much on my plate and it's hard to keep up.
Right there with you. My support ticket queue is on my mind nearly every waking hour. It makes me sincerely wish to return to monke and just shit into my open palm and paint pictures with it
Mostly how it destroys my body. After the weekend I still fill a little sore. It was cool getting strong without having to go to a gym or feel like I'm working out, but it doesn't stop. I can lift 150 lbs now and make it look easy strength wise, but my joints don't like it. I'm starting to feel like an old man.
Waking up at 5 in the morning to do a tedious stock job. At least I don’t have to interact with a lot of the general public like some of my coworkers.
Probably in order of fury
- Everyone increasingly leaves their fucking trash everywhere unless I personally clean it up or the bosses finally organize a clean-up day. The pipefitters in particular are by far the worst offenders in this regard because they leave heavy metal garbage lying literally everywhere all over the scaffolding, which is very easily knocked off and can land on someone's fucking head.
- The company has become increasingly top-heavy and yet these many bosses of the various trades apparently never communicate with each other or plan work on different sites, so the grunts are constantly butting heads
- Construction scaffolding is built to prioritize certain trades over others and none of the bosses apparently care how difficult this makes the jobs of certain lower-priority trades
- My boss has become a lazy fuck over time who doesn't schedule basic training class for new people, even though it can be easily solved with a simple phone call to the right person who he should know
nice how did you fuck up on the order of $500k
sounds like you could bankrupt the place with a little elbow grease
My colleagues who only say useful technical stuff about 30% of the time, so you can never fully tune them out without missing something valuable, even though 70% of the time they're libbing out with outrageous nonsense or sucking each other's dicks (but never mine :angery:)
