Why did Hitler have his knickers in a bunch about Russia in the first place? He seemed super aggro about the USSR, like it was his primary reason for war in the first place, but why?

Bonus points if you know why Japan felt that way as well

To add to that: resources, like the oil fields in the Caucasus region

There is no such thing as racism against jewish people, there is only antisemitism. Jewish people aren`t a race

Antisemitism is definitely racism. It's the most classic case of "scientific" racism, juxtaposing Indo-Europeans and Semites. Jewish people are still sometimes considered a separate race, whether because of their Semitic origin or not. Neither is true, because race is a social construct and up to the whoever's making up that particular classification, but the hatred is racial regardless.

      For Nazi Germany:

      • Racial and Ideological hatred, towards Slavs, Jews and Communists. The war was portrayed as a war to squash "Judeo-Bolshevism" and therefore avenge the lost of WW1 (Stab-in-the-back myth). The native peoples of the Soviet Union were also to be used as slaves for German settlers and eventually genocided for "Lebenstraum" (open living space) according to Generalplan Ost. For an example of what this would look like, please refer to the United States of America.

      • Aquire the huge amount of resources held by the Soviet Union, especially oil and food. Most people know the Nazis had heavy fuel shortages but they were dependent on Ukrainian grain imports to feed their population. Part of the reason Operation Barbarossa (the invasion of USSR) had to be done quickly is that they had to capture the Ukrainian grain harvest to feed Germany that year.

      • Additionally the Nazis also severally underestimated the strength and determination of the Soviet military and people. They believed with a sudden overwhelming strike they could destroy all Soviet resistance at the border and finish the war in a few months. Thanks to the glorious heroic sacrifices made by the Red Army, the tenacity and resistance of Soviet people and the leadership of Stalin and the Communist Party, the Soviet Union turned the tables and routed the fascist invaders, saving the world from Nazism in the process.

      For Japan:

      • The Japanese got their asses handed to them so hardat the Battle of Khalkhin Gol by Georgy "Big Dick" Zhukov that the Japanese decided to never mess with the Soviet Union again. They were busy with invading China and fighting Mao "Huge Cock" Zedong's guerillas as well, and invading Siberia would be far too difficult for nearly no gains.

I'm not at all educated on this particular subject, but it seems to me like a logical extension of his rhetoric. Communism is an evil jewish plot to rule the world or whatever, and also eastern europeans are low-iq uncivilized mongrels or whatever, so the Soviets have gotta go. They're evil. We've gotta be the good guys and go stop the bad guys. It's harder to convince everyone that you're really the good guy if you won't go fight the ones you've made quite clear are the bad guys.

Given him a fair trial at Nuremberg, and then the rope. The nazi elite dreaded this, viewing it as humiliation. To them, suicide was the "honorable" and "face saving" option to go out after catastrophic failure (cf. Göring and Goebbels also killing themselves, or Rommel's suicide after the Africa campaign).

There's also reports that Hitler came up with the galaxy brain take that the Soviets may put his embalmed corpse on display, as a kind of Anti-Lenin, to immortalize the defeat of Nazism. Presumably, this is why he ordered his corpse to be burned (i guess he didn't consider the option that his ashes may have been put to rest in Moscow's first gender neutral bathroom). There's zero evidence for the USSR having any plans like that, but it illustrates how obsessed the Nazi-Bonzen got over the last tiny thing they could still control, their own death.

Probably the same thing they did to every other high command Nazi they could.

Hitler was hoping America would reach him first so he could have been given a job in America as Secremovedy of State or something.

It’s a shame, I would have liked to see him get the Mussolini treatment
