tbh all I can do is laugh at this point, sorry if this is a downer post but damn, really sucks

Wish there was an "undiagnosed ADHD for two decades which tanked your GPA so you don't qualify for any scholarships" scholarship

If you're willing to infinitely degrade yourself with meaningless bullshit, there's plenty of "write x hundred word essay on arbitrary bullshit" scholarships. If you happen to win a few dozen of them, you could pay for a whole semester!

    :sadness:

Now you see I've almost done this one because I totally could stroke them exactly how they want, like honestly in my own personal and one of the least humble opinions I have, I could easily win it but I am not willing to A.) read Ayn Rand or B.) put my name on the essay after writing it

            Deer Ayn Rand,

I am a special boy. My whole life, people have said I'm special. Harry Potter, a book about magic and friends, stars a very special boy named Harry (Potter) who I guess you could say is like me only he got a scholarship already. If I were in Hoggerts, I would be the best at magic because I'm smart and good at everything. I wish I could live in a bubble of equally smart boys, though not as clever as I, where we did cool sciencd and magic allllllll day. Girls would date me they would have to cuz I'm the best at science and own all the cars in the bubble cuz I'm richer than the other boys and we are underwater (ocean) so I could drown them if not. If we lived in a bubble I could drown everyone who hurts me like a dog.

            Regards,

            Happybadger (or else)

eh, not enough leaning into how much you hate poor people and how receiving any sort of aid is disgusting (while asking for aid, just like one author I can think of)

That's page one. Pages 2-189 are a manifesto on how many people I'd drown if given power and how I will invest the scholarship in gamestop stock to gain maximum power.

edit: There's also a 30 page section where I try to explain bitcoin to Ayn Rand personally but then fail and become frustrated so it devolves into a technical manual on how to drown someone.

Thats nothing compared to a friend writing Koch brother’s scholarships cause her dad worked at some company that was distantly owned by them

This! I graduated high school with an AA degree. Every semester was the same: struggling to pay attention and having weeks of panic attacks over missing assignments and having to retake a bunch of college courses and almost throwing up emailing professors over "please bump my grade/I'll do any extra credit/can I turn it in late for half credit" and literally teaching myself entire college classes in the two nights before the final to scrape by a D after getting As on all the tests but just not having the capacity to due the busywork type homework

Really though, go to community college for 2 years and transfer to a 4 year. You save a shit ton of money and get the same degree after 4 years.

:Care-Comrade: I feel this. Shit sucks. Try and get evidence of your current diagnosis and talk with some advisors at your uni and see if they can offer you any support or compassionate consideration.

I went through something similar. Don't give up and look at all avenues but don't be too hard on yourself no matter what happens. Shit is hard for people like us, especially right now with austerity cutting avenues of support.

Just know that you are good enough, its just everything was built around a different set of needs then you require and our society sucks at dealing with different.

It really is bs, unless you want to apply to like 500 things you either need stellar grades to get a scholarship + okay financial aid at a decent state school or you need to get into an ivy for sufficient financial aid.

It's great because now that I'm in college my parents make enough money that I get like 2k in financial aid, which is especially funny bc no generational wealth and that they are still paying their student loans if they could afford my college they'd have been able to pay off their own college by now
