Obama got the "Is he really black" question his entire career.

I soured on him over time, but this low-rent race-baiting always somehow had me rooting for him again.

The best shit was around this time of the year in 2008 when there were thinkpieces asking if he was black enough to be the president, since that had historically been such a problem for all the other presidents.

Jeez, didn't know this was such a sensitive topic, sorry for the joke and question. With how much Americans like to talk about race I didn't think it would be inappropriate to discuss which race someone is

It's inappropriate because it is one of the Fash pipelines among other things.

Yeah that makes sense, what annoys me is that it gives Dems the ability to advertise "look, the first black X" as much as they do, which is a bit annoying but obviously the fash pipeline aspect of it is more serious, so I'll stop

You have a good point though, Dems always go with the 'presentable' version. Like Buttigieg for example, you wouldn't know he's gay unless he told you.

Yeah, Democrats would be mortified if they ended up with someone like Nina Turner, the 'angry black woman.'

It's gotta be the button-down milquetoast proper sort of minority.

Yeah if a DNC brand kind of politician could realisically be labelled as of a currently marketable marginalised group, they will be. For example I don't think Arabs are included here yet, but maybe that's because of Ilhan Omar? And you'd never see Palestinian or Kurdish and noone cares that Kamala has a parent from India
