Obama got the "Is he really black" question his entire career.

I soured on him over time, but this low-rent race-baiting always somehow had me rooting for him again.

The best shit was around this time of the year in 2008 when there were thinkpieces asking if he was black enough to be the president, since that had historically been such a problem for all the other presidents.

Jeez, didn't know this was such a sensitive topic, sorry for the joke and question. With how much Americans like to talk about race I didn't think it would be inappropriate to discuss which race someone is

Yeah that makes sense, what annoys me is that it gives Dems the ability to advertise "look, the first black X" as much as they do, which is a bit annoying but obviously the fash pipeline aspect of it is more serious, so I'll stop

You have a good point though, Dems always go with the 'presentable' version. Like Buttigieg for example, you wouldn't know he's gay unless he told you.

Yeah, Democrats would be mortified if they ended up with someone like Nina Turner, the 'angry black woman.'

It's gotta be the button-down milquetoast proper sort of minority.

Yeah if a DNC brand kind of politician could realisically be labelled as of a currently marketable marginalised group, they will be. For example I don't think Arabs are included here yet, but maybe that's because of Ilhan Omar? And you'd never see Palestinian or Kurdish and noone cares that Kamala has a parent from India

      • Yes, but we finally figured out to spin that as Biden wanting someone who will call him out on race issues. Phew! Took us a while after I bombed that question on Colbert, but I think this tack will work.
      • Okay, but only because we had no idea that anti-cop sentiment was this strong! We still don't, clearly.
      • I was still figuring out how the game worked on the national stage, and thought he had better chances to win. I've already apologized to Chuck about that.
      • What? That shit's funny.
      • It worked for Obama!
      • Yes. I'll get my people on thinking about some good excuses and get back to you.

I bet they had this in mind from the start but wanted to wait until the anti-police stuff died down so that they didn't look like the most tone-deaf people on the entire planet. Of course, it hasn't died down, but they need a VP ahead of the convention, so here they are. Just terrific. What a godawful pick.

Also, who is this for? Progressives don't like her. Name recognition isn't a factor, that's what got Biden the job in the first place. Being from California, she doesn't help get more electoral college votes. Biden already has support from large parts of the black community, and the parts that don't support him aren't coming onboard for her. The PMC libs would have been happy with literally any WoC, and who cares what they think because they're all voting blue anyway.

I'm not surprised, I just don't understand what the angle is, other than that the Democrats have openly embraced their status as controlled opposition.

Well, since Biden has a very real possibility of dying, they do need a VP which will 100% act in accordance with the DNC agenda. I think that’s probably the most important factor for VP choice tbh

Good point. They don't have to worry about losing because there are always other elections, but they can't risk losing even a tiny amount of control over the party.

Epstein brain warning: so at the end of one of Dave Chapelle's netflix specials he talks about how after one of his shows in CA Chris Tucker asked if he could meet him backstage. Dave said yes and when he went back there it was Tucker, Kamala Harris, and Gavin Newsom and then they called up then candidate Barrack Obama on the phone. The next day Dave was supposed to meet them at some fancy restaurant and when he went there Gavin Newsom was there with Prince Andrew and Dave got to meet the Prince. This is told as a humorous story about Dave getting to meet famous politicians out of happenstance but those with a broken brain will recognize that two Epstein connections are name dropped in the story and that Dave himself has jokingly defended alleged pedophiles on numerous occasions. Anyway I think Harris is in for the Epstein tie because I think the hosts are right and Biden might be a creep but he's too stupid to actually be a part of the global pedophile cabal. He just does capital's bidding for the ice cream cones

They wanted Rice but were too afraid of relitigating Benghazi, and we figure I can spin my experience with the justice system as a plus, "I know what needs fixing!" or something like that. The PMC libs will eat that shit up.

Also, it'll undermine Trump's "Law and Order" campaign play. Biden/Harris: The Toughest on Crime!

Everyone acting like this is tone deaf, but this is genuinely not gonna cost them a single vote. Anyone tuned in enough to say ACAB have already decided if they are voting for Biden or not and this isnt gonna change anything. She's probably the most boring choice they could have made.

    • EnsignRedshirt [he/him]

She's not going to cost them any votes, but she's not going to gain them any, either. This is why Democrats are so good at losing. The moment they're up a few points they try to run out the clock, no matter how much time is left in the game. This likely won't lose Biden votes that he would have gotten regardless, but if he does lose, it'll be because of shit like this.

I'd act pissed off but there really wasn't a realistic option that would have made me happy. We're likely looking at the first female president when Joe gets euthanized in a few years. After all this "most progressive platform" bullshit and lies about needing criminal justice reform we get a fucking cop. Classic.

Warren would have been cathartic in a way. Running a kamikaze campaign in order to set herself up as the VP is a coherent strategy. Shameless and beneath contempt, but understandable. As it stands, she's just the person who made sure that Americans would spend another decade without healthcare or really any relief from neoliberal hellworld, and for what? Maybe a cabinet appointment that she probably would have gotten regardless? It's baffling.
