      but for real this is a great list, I haven't seen sopranos or dune but everything else here I've seen is great

        You should watch the Sopranos, as Felix and Matt have pointed out it (maybe accidentally) is a commentary on decline in America, and on some pathologies of suburban America. But even beyond that it's just really well written. The dialogue usually flows nicely, there are lots of little subplots which almost always have some payoff (unlike a lot of shows out there).

      And I just finished reading The Dispossessed, it's incredible, every leftist should read it. IIRC Guillermo del Toro is some sort of anarchist, and if so I think he could make a great adaptation of it into a movie.
