Pig thought she had a taser.

What I'm hearing as their story is that the cop was trying to go for their own taser but grabbed their gun and shot them. That's supposed to make it sound okay, somehow? Like "No he wasn't malicious, just maliciously incompetent."

plus, there's a word for that, (under the ridiculous assumption that it's true), manslaughter.

Yep. Honestly making the whole thing about whether she knew it was a gun or not is the same fuzzing of the narrative and distraction that police killings consistently devolve into. It doesn't really matter if she mixed up her taser and gun because manslaughter is the baseline, a real and serious crime with an according sentence - but I guess we already know that cops don't get sentenced for that.

The only way this could have happened is if she unlocked her real gun holster the moment she pulled him over.

So for a misdemeanor warrant she was ready to kill someone from moment one.

pretty sure the tazer shouldn't be carried anywhere near the pistol to prevent this exact thing from happening, so this cop was running around with an unsafe setup for who knows how long

Tasers are carried on the opposite side as handguns nationwide.

What this policewoman did was unlock her gun holster the moment she left her car, which made her gun pull the same way as a tazer.

Normally handguns have a safety lock to prevent someone from taking your gun off you or for accidental discharge reasons. She disabled hers.

I'm not sure I believe that she mistakenly thought she had a taser. It depends on what kind of taser and what type of gun, but those things often don't feel the same in your hand, and depending on the models the safeties aren't even in the same positions. And if your police department isn't equipping tasers and guns that are noticeably different, that's just more unforgiveable negligence.

The absolutely are, which is why I'm not just calling this obvious bullshit. It's one of those situations where there are about a dozen different damning mistakes no matter how you construe the facts.

A mistake is possible here, even if it's not likely. Consider the difference between this taser and this one. The first is a different color than any gun I've ever seen any cop carry, the shape is way off, and the safety is on the right. The second is colored like a gun, is closer to the shape of a gun, and the safety is on the left. So depending on the taser this cop carries and the gun she carries, it's not completely unbelievable that this was a mistake (and from the video it does look like drawing and shooting at a moment's notice).

Of course, none of this excuses the pig. She should be in fired and in jail right now even if this was a mistake. It does help to be as accurate as possible when talking to other people about this stuff, though. Details like this are also helpful for determining if the "mistake" story is a lie.

What fucking bullshit. Tasers are completely different from guns. Trigger, safety and sights are completely different. Not to mention they look different. Cop just said that as an excuse to execute someone.

I've been practicing doing some spraypaint by breaking into my roof and doing some stuff that isn't visible from the street.

I think I'm gonna finally commit to a nice visible ACAB or Abolish The Police once it stops raining.

How to get away with murder if you're a cop: Shout either 1) "I fear for my life or the lives of those around me!" or 2) "I have a taser and I'm going to use it!" before you shoot someone with your gun.

    The sheer incompetence is baffling.

Like wtf now they're accidently killing black men

It's hard to believe this was an accident tbh, cops always shout this sort of shit when they know they're being filmed. It gives them plausible deniability, and DAs always cite recordings of pigs shouting "I fear for my life!!!" as the reason they won't be charged with any crime

Admitting out loud that she shot him is dumber than the usual cop coverup behavior, though

Not even the first accidental taser/gun death this week.

There was another one in Nebraska.

I feel like it ought to be pointed out that you need to chamber a bullet before you can fire. So not only did this lady unlock her holster, she chambered a round. Unless she's claiming to be so incompetent as to walk around with her gun ready to fire, she had intent to kill before this video even starts.

I was under the impression that she would have racked before the video started because it seemed so demented to me that cops are trained to walk around ready to fire at any second.

After some more reading, you're right. It seems to be standard procedure for police to have a bullet in the chamber. But yeah, still fucked up and no excuse.

If you're carrying a gun, it needs to be chambered. Modern guns don't just go off for no reason, and cops have very nice holsters to prevent any unwanted trigger play.
