Expanding on your choice(s) is definitely a plus. Not everyone knows about or has played non-mainstream titles.
I used to love necrodancer! You can put your own songs in there too right?
You can! It helps if the beat is really clearly defined in the audio, though -- e.g., "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson works really well, but I think you'd have a hard time with shittily-produced early 80's death metal, e.g., Sepultura - "Morbid Visions."
I used to play a ton of Stepmania (Dance Dance Revolution clone) and lately have been getting into Osu. Nothing too special about the mechanics, but both are free and have an unbelievable amount of user created content
If you have not played it bit trip runner 2 is fucking awsome, it flows great is difficult but has more casual mode and has a lot of side levels and unlocks.
when i was younger, i was too young to buy guitar hero, so i got really good at guitar geek on kongregate. it had like six songs, but i had mastered them completely
I was pretty active on some flash game site awhile back that had knock-off DDR. Probably the only reason I know of Hatsune Miku and Matisyahu.
Clone Hero and Frets on Fire make great replacements for guitar hero on pc.
Audiosurf is a great platform if you want to play your own songs without the bullshit of having to buy them again.
Well, I'd say any of the Rhythm Heaven games, but I am heavily biased cause they are the only rhythm games I've ever played.
Rhythm Heaven, Osu, Parappa the Rapper, Taiko no Tsujin, and Aracea
