What year do you think was the summit of the old CTH sub? I would say 2017. The response to the Charlottesville riots were fucking epic.

Don't know when exactly it was, but there was a long run where our spectre absolutely haunted reddit. We lived so rent-free in lib redditors' minds that receiving any pushback whatsoever would result in them accusing Liz Warren stans of being "chapos".

You can sorta see the same thing beginning to happen with "tankies" now. You know you dominate their brain space when people feel the need to preemptively ad-hominem you before you even show up.

The best time at CTH was when we would @ ping chuds and bully them off the platform. It’s also how we got that one dude to show us his dick

I think the best one was some guy who was like "oh, I guess I was wrong actually" and then he became a regular and just became farther and farther left over the next year. It was a great redemption arc.

Edit: dunking on devavrata so hard he orchestrated a mass purge of leftists from a bunch of lib subs was also great, and some of the power-mod freaks who were part of his conspiracy are AHS mods now too.

I literally saw someone doing the "chapos bad" thing yesterday.

Still living rent-free in their heads after almost a year.

Yeah that period absolutely ruled - it almost, but never quite got to the point of gamergate era SRS, but Chapo was waay better at out posting the CHUDs thanSRS ever was. I swear the rest of reddit became slightly more bearable for a while as well.

And tankies/genzedong don't come close to how mad CTH made them.

By homogenizing over time Reddit has killed everything that's fun to argue about in the comments.

Dunno about this. They're already screaming "fuck off tankie" at anarchists & have 15 subreddits dedicated to attacking stawmen of us.

At most, they've known the word "tankie" for 6 months. Outside of r/MoreTankieChapo, that word did not coexist with the Sanders campaign. Give it more time.

Wait until the midterms and tankies are in r/politics saying Biden and Pelosi haven't delivered on anything. Libs are going to go into all-out rage mode, peaking the day after the midterms when Dems get destroyed.

Inb4: "HOPE YOURE HAPPY TANKIES, YOU COST US THE ONLY CHANCE WE HAD TO MAKE PROGRESS UNTIL 2024!!!"

Exact same situation for me in terms of being deep in an r/politics thread and constantly hearing people bring it up. I started out on the subreddit rolling my eyes at some political stuff on it but I embrace it all now. That kind of potent radicalization is absolutely why it was banned from Reddit. You basically read some liberal BS'ing about how insane and evil the subreddit is and then you go to it and find it to be nothing like what they say. Liberal joe shmoes are so dumb and bad at convincing people of stuff that they hurt their own cause.

The early primaries leading up to nevada. All of the meme candidates and seeing kamala/beto/pete get humiliated, classic. I was already disillusioned by electoral politics from 2016 but seeing the entire establishment and media class go from ignoring bernie to desperately clawing at literally any way to attack Bernie in real time was so surreal. Also the content on the sub was at its absolute peak

Yes, although I look back with a bit of a weird feeling at seeing the Pete and Amy ones in the three days between SC and Super Tuesday. I was celebrating until I realized what that meant a few days later.

The correct answer is the BLM megathreads.

But also, I think Corbyn losing actually broke a lot of brains. I think that was really what started to get people off electoralism. Sub was big into electoralism before then IMO.

joshua7congress and the total meltdown that came with it.

edit: oh my god this reminded me. I got a random fundraising text from his campaign after the train wreck. I thought it was a robotext, so i replied with some shit like "isn't this the fail son who couldn't figure out how to register with the DNC and then deleted all of his campaigns accounts"

It wasn't a robotext, it was joshua. dude wrote back and was very upset with me lmao good times

pre quarantine was probably the funniest as we were both brigading chud subs and also that was pretty much bait for them to come to our turf and just get absolutelly destroyed by our posters on new, just watching someone get dogpiled in a post 5 minutes after they posted by every single person who was looking through new was just the best
