guess which one i don't have!
I am terrible with names to begin with so I just call everyone "dude", regardless of gender. That includes my wife, father, etc.
ok i'm not going to remove this but i need you to understand why people in the transgender comm might not be pleased with this attitude
Agreed. I imagine it can be dysphoria inducing for trans women, even if it is more gender neutral in your area.
You've got like ten people answering you kindly and you decided to just double down, eh ?
See you back when you've done some thinking
i don't want to be too defensive of them but they did do that before most of the responses came in if you look at the timestamps
Kinda cringe. I love "dude" and say it a lot because of brainworms, but I am pretty careful with referring to people by it. It has both a potentially unpleasant sound AND is gendered.
yeah, there's one transfem friend i have who calls me dude and i call her dude and that's just like a thing we do, but if someone else does it it really raises my hackles even if i don't always tell them
Getting called "dude" by a random and just looking at them real shitty-like instead of saying anything.
Trying to find a suitable name during my transition was like "Hi! Don't mind all the glitter and sparkles, I'm totally not a faerie....but can I have your name?"
I have 4, kinda-sorta 5. I honestly love this, cis people don't know what they're missing, being tied to one name their whole lives
Oh no, I may be cis but I'm a gamer. I may login to a new name and identity in a heartbeat
No but seriously, you always go by your ign in voip, whether it was xx_bussyslayer_xx or Mordogai
Sub a party name for a business name and no one will know the difference.
Just 6? You've gotta get those numbers up. I've got 6 of those too and I'm not even trans. (PS you all know me by #7)
my video game name is the same as one of my other names(and it's not the online name)
I have another name which is the name my mom was going to give me if I was born female, apparently the doctors didn't find out my genitalia until I left my mom's body.
i ended up with my would-have-been cis girl name and i love it so much
strong recommend for anyone with cool parent(s)
My younger sister ended up getting that name. So I had to come up with a new one.
yep that's the one i've picked too! told me my alt name and my sister's alt name and like many things it helped get that egg a cracklin
hell yeah, it's cool that it got to be part of your process. i only learned mine post-transition, when i was like 2 years in and still functionally nameless lol
still super cool though! i am still very much not out to family i often wonder what my mom will say/react lol
i hope it's nothing but love and support, if and when you feel comfortable crossing that bridge
